Who we are?

Nourish is a non-profit organisation that is based in Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces of South Africa. We work closely with rural villages and communities as this region is one of the most poverty stricken and under severed areas in the country.

What we do?

Our projects are all interlinked and holistic, in order to help a community grow in all aspects. We focus on early childhood development, food security, english literacy, social integration, environmental education, conservation experiences and entrepreneurial training. The holism of Nourish is important as it works with the community as a whole and sees the problems in a bigger picture.

Where we work?

The Nourish base is located along the Orpen Road next to Sigagule village in Mpumalanga province. We work throughout the schools and communities in the Acornhoek area.

The area is surrounded by stunning wildlife and mountains. We are so fortunate as  Kruger National Park gate is approximately a 10 minutes drive from Nourish. This allows our volunteers the amazing opportunity to visit this beautiful park on the weekends and hopefully catch a glimpse of the majestic big five!

The best part about where we are based is, not only the wildlife and the beautiful sunsets, but how safe the area is. Of course no area is perfect but this region is reasonably safe and we have not had any issues with anyone yet.

In regards to health, this area does have some cases of treatable malaria so we recommend that our volunteers take malaria medication during their time with us. You will not need vaccinations when you come to this region unless you come from an area that has yellow fever. Please check with you doctor before arriving in South Africa as every country is different with their requirements.

Our History

Nourish officially opened in 2011 by Sarah Bergs. Sarah created this amazing project from scratch with little help and somehow was able to create Nourish into what it is today. Sarah created Nourish to be the open door through which many projects can be run that are focused on alleviating waste, hunger, creating livelihoods for people in the local community and finally becoming more 'green' in our way of life.

Nourish is currently going through a massive expansion. With a growing dedicated staff and incoming volunteers we know that Nourish can only go towards helping more and more people in these incredible communities.

Our Mission

Nourish wants to make a difference in both the community and in wildlife conservation. We believe that by working to grow resilient communities that are healthy, educated and have access to opportunities we can break the poverty cycle and thus put an end to the poaching epidemic.

Why Choose Us?

Nourish is just beginning to explore just how much we can make a difference in the lives of the community members and we need as much help as possible in order to help as many people as possible and make a true difference in this area. There are so many aspects to Nourish that there is something for everyone to get involved in and the team at Nourish are truly dedicated to making it the experience of a lifetime! If you are up for a challenge and an adventure this will be the perfect place for you!
