About the Program
Are you interested in construction volunteer work where you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the long-term development goals in Likuni Mombasa in Kenya?
The construction and renovation volunteer abroad project in Mombasa Kenya which enable international volunteers to work alongside local school to support building new structures for community use, renovating existing school and school buildings, and improving local infrastructure.
The renovation or construction volunteer work will vary depending on building structure of the school and the unique school needs, and the different stages of construction work.
Volunteers can choose to volunteer for durations ranging from 1 week to 12 weeks and if you are supporting longer-term building projects, you will have the opportunity to continue the construction work of previous volunteers.
A strong work ethic and an enthusiasm for a challenge are the key requirements for these projects, which offer a rewarding opportunity for volunteers who like to see the physical results of their hard work.

The volunteer will live with rural host families and work on a construction-based service project at the school. With your mornings spent on the work site and your afternoons spent volunteering in schools, teaching English, or playing soccer, you will have countless opportunities to learn about your African hosts.
The volunteer placement area is safe and secure to accommodate volunteers and most of the community members are friendly to volunteers from overseas at the school.
This project focuses on the construction and renovation of school, classroom,toilet facilities within the schools premises.
With your mornings spent on the work site and your afternoons spent volunteering in thev school, teaching English, or playing soccer your estimated timetable looks like the following:
07.15 - 7.45am Breakfast at the Host Family
08.00 - 12.00 Work at the project site
Construction Site Painting, repairs and landscaping
12.00 - 13.00 Visit the local community and attend to cultural insight
13.00 - 14.00 Lunch
14.00 - 17.00 Teach English Language
Volunteers will be picked at the Mombasa lnternational Airport by the local staff and transfered to the project site and host accommodation.
Volunteers will stay with the host family for cultural immersion and will be provided with a rural home environment and secure place.They will have shared bedrooms and with other volunteers staying with host family.
Volunteers will be provided with a 3 meal which include traditional meals and vegetarian dishes.
THE PROGRAM
Programs start every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, with arrival
Sunday prior to the program start at Kitale( Kitale International
Airport).This programs are available all year round.
Upon arrival you will be picked up at the airport and driven to the
volunteer house or coordinator’s place.During 1-3 days, depending on the
length of your voluntary work, you will get a general briefing. These
first days will offer you glimpses into the Swahili language, as well as Kenya 's various cultures, religions, and local ways of life.
This introduction will be held in Kitale depending on your work area.
School Teacher & Construction Worker
For volunteers hoping to learn about swahili culture, participating in a Kenyan immersion program is the way to go. Your classes will be taught completely in English.
