Combine your passion for animals and desire to give back to society by improving the unfortunate situation of abandoned street animals in Portugal. During this volunteer program, you can help look for a new safe and beautiful home for stray dogs.

The program  aims to improve the situation of the animals living on the streets. Due to the amount of work that it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always greatly appreciated. Animals are only mediated when the family have the correct surrounding for the dog.

Before starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation from our local staff. The local stuff is runned by English speaking people. They are very happy to welcome volunteers from all over the world. Usually you will be in the programm with other volunteers. The project is close to a smaller city and you can get by bicycle their in 10 minutes.

Tagesablauf

You will help from 8/9 am till 1/2 pm or an afternoon shift are flexible, depend on the volunteer. Like this, you will have time to enjoy your afternoon going to the city.

You will help from 8/9 am till 1/2 pm or an afternoon shift are flexible, depend on the volunteer. Like this, you will have time to enjoy your afternoon going to the city.

This program allows you to rescue and work with abandoned cats and dogs while helping them find a new home. Daily tasks may include: 

  • Feeding, and walking the animals 
  • Cleaning cages and equipment
  • Drug administration and support with sterilization procedures
  • Help with rescue operations where animals are brought in from the street 
  • Food distribution for animals that live on the street
  • Fundraising & Social Media (for long term volunteers)

During your free time you can explore nearby cities. You can enjoy activities like swimming, relaxing on the beach during your days off.
Close to the beach, people sell souvenirs, other cities are close.

Voraussetzungen

Mindestalter: 18 Jahre

Um an diesem Programm teilzunehmen, musst du zu Programmbeginn mindestens 18 Jahre alt sein. Es kann Ausnahmen geben, wenn du die Erlaubnis deines/r Erziehungsberechtigten vorlegen kannst oder wenn du von deinen Eltern begleitet wirst

Du brauchst folgende Sprachkenntnisse: Englisch (Fortgeschritten)

Staatszugehörigkeit

Cause we are a smaller agency we stay always in a good communication to our volunteers and to the communites. For us it is important to find the right programm for your stay abroad. Don´t travel just like a tourst!

History: 

Jamso Trainee startet in December 2012 helping in communities in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is since now the county with the most interns, volunteers and travelers. 

Since 2013 Jamso Trainee started working with partners in Ecuador, Peru, South Afrika.

2015 we begin working with our partner Bali and Thailand.

Visiting projects and getting more relationshsips with local charities is a goal of each year. Jamso Trainee don´t increase too fast, because for us it is very important to hold long contacts and stay in a good communication with volunteers and projects.
