Review Description

Abaana Community Outreach (ACO) Africa aims to serve the most vulnerable groups in society. We believe in giving selflessly of time, care and resources. ACO Africa is a non-discriminatory, non-profit organization committed to providing support for the most vulnerable groups in society. We place an emphasis on education, health, psychosocial issues, economic empowerment, and nutrition, human and environmental rights.

ACO Africa was founded in 2009 as a community based organisation (CBO) in Masaka-Lwengo District and later renovated into an international and non-profit organisation, committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing loving support and care to vulnerable individuals; laying an emphasis on education, health, psychosocial care, economic empowerment, nutrition, human and environmental rights to the poorest and most vulnerable people.

Mission
We at ACO Africa have the mission to create sustainable socioeconomic changes capable of generating lasting impacts on communities affected by deprivation. Important key target groups of ACO Africa are children and women. The large majority of households supported by ACO Africa are either headed by young orphans, single mothers or elderly widowers. Our goals are

  • care and support for groups affected by deprivation
  • mitigating social and economic effects of rights abuse and HIV/AIDS among communities
ACO Africa aims to serve the most vulnerable groups in society. We believe in giving selflessly of time, care and resources. We hope you will be inspired by our work; and join us to make a difference. We endeavor to ensure that children and other vulnerable people are made aware of their rights and are able to reach their full potential.

Vision
Our vision is to care for children and other vulnerable groups. ACO Africa supports and empowers communities, focusing on HIV-positive children, orphans and other vulnerable groups. Our aim is that all children should receive primary education, health and other kinds of basic care. We also advocate for women rights. Our purpose is to provide women with the opportunity to become productive members of their own community, assume leadership roles, and have a positive impact on society

I am a social worker from the U.S., and I have young children of my own that limited my time abroad-- but my weeklong period of volunteering in rural Uganda with ACO-Africa proved to be very powerful. Its director John is a dynamic, creative, ...

2016 at Community Development Associate

I volunteered for ACO-Africa for two months in 2016 and really enjoyed my time with them. The organisation works in different districts so I got to see many sides of Uganda and learned so much about its culture and people and also about myself. I would recommend ACO-Africa to anyone who is looking ...
