      Who we are?

Santacultura is a small local organization located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Was founded  by Liza a costarrican teacher. After years working for private schools by the richest touristic places in Guanacaste, she decided to create Santacultura with the intention to help with the education of  children from low in come families whom lives in remotes areas near to her community.

Liza has the honor of creating all of the activities at Santacultura, she provide an exclusive, personalized and unique volunteer experience. An important part to be a small organization is the chance to work closely with the school teacher and volunteers. Santacultura is a small local organization located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

What we do?

Santacultura works with one of the most needy schools in the community. It is a small school directed by only 1 teacher who is in charge of 26 students, all of them from differents learning levels and grades ( 1st to 6th grade) sharing the same classroom ( children do not received music class, art, physical education and english).

With the help of volunteers we create teaching materials, educational games, environmental activities and English classes to reinforce the learning of the children. We are also working for a after school program to offer more activities and entertaiment to the students because the school schedule its only from 7 am to 12:30.

 Where we work?

We are based in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica is a typical rural and local town. Its inhabitants are a big group of farmers, fishermen, workers and employees.

Santa Cruz is the main rural town before to get at the most popular beaches and tourist attractions in Guanacaste. It’s a city declared National folk town and also as a Blue Zone ( a region of the world where people commonly past the age of 100 years because theirs healthy life style and diet) https://howlermag.com/Living-longer-Costa-Rica-Blue-Zone+

The school is located in Bernabela a very small town, where families lives basic and work for farms. The town consists basically of a soccer field, church, one grocery store and the school.

Children who attend this school do not have the opportunity to attend schools in the center of town because the parents do not have transportation to take them and the bad conditions of the roads.
