Project Details

The Mighty Roar provide structured, safe and affordable volunteer abroad programmes to make a positive impact in wildlife conservation and to help local communities.

Who we are?

The Mighty Roar is a relatively new company, but don't let that put you off. As we are one of the newer volunteer organisations, we want to do everything in our power to make each and every trip is special for all our volunteers. All of our team members have a wealth of experience in volunteering and a huge love for making a difference to the animals and communities we work with.

We're different to everyone else. We are dedicated to helping animals and communities around the world. Whether you want to help protect the elephants in Sri Lanka, track whales in the Azores or teach english in South Africa, you can be sure we have an amazing experience waiting for you.

As we are a small family organisation, this allows us to provide a friendly and personal service - you are not just another number to us! You can be sure that if you are considering a placement on one of our projects, the whole team will know who you are and where you're going.

All team members have personally visited and experienced every programme we offer, that way we can all truely tell you what to expect and answer any questions you may have.

What we do?

We provide structured, safe and affordable volunteer programmes overseas, where you will be able to make a positive impact in the conservation and preservation of some of the worlds most amazing animals, including; big cats, dolphins, elephants, lions, penguins, monkeys sharks and more! Not only this, but we also have several projects in place to help with teaching and childcare within the local communities.

Between our UK team and our local teams across the destinations we work with, we provide fast and efficient support to all volunteers. We are on hand 24/7 in case of any rare emergencies and everyone within The Mighty Roar will do everything in their power to make sure you have the trip of a lifetime.

Where we work?

At the moment we have 4 destinations across Africa, Asia, and Europe with the view to adding more on a regular basis. Our limited exposure to destinations means we can concentrate all of our efforts on the 15+ programmes we offer so we can ensure everyone has a great trip.

The countries we do currently work in, Malawi, Portugal, Sri Lanka and South Africa all provide something unique and allow volunteers to explore some of the most beautiful and immersive environments around.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome volunteers from any background, religion and nationality, as long as you are able to supply a clean criminal background check. In order to join the majority of our programmes, you will need to be at least 18 years old and have a  good level of speaking  / understanding English (although it does not have to be your first language). Our volunteering opportunities are open to anyone that has a passion for animals and to making a positive difference within the local communities.

Why choose us?

We go above and beyond with all of our volunteers to ensure you are 100% happy. Here are just a couple of reasons why you should choose us:

Social Impact

When establishing relationships with organisations around the world, we take into account many factors to ensure we both share the same vision. We believe in using sustainable tourism as a method to make a positive impact within the local communities and to aid the conservation and preservation of animals and the environment.

Ethical Conservation

All of our volunteer programmes are rigorously checked on a regular basis and we only work with ethical organisations that offer true conservation work to help save the many endangered animals within our world. You will not find any of our projects or experiences exploiting any animals or the local communities, and that do not adhere to responsible ethics or our strict standards.

Responsible Travel

The communities at which our programmes are based in benefit greatly from our volunteers' presence and efforts. Some of the long-term benefits include:

  • Improved education: We offer numerous programmes throughout the developing world that see volunteers based at local schools and other structured projects. The children are able to learn and improve on their English that can be key to future success and prosperity.
  • Greater care: The problem faced in many of our programme destinations is the lack of resources and the overcrowding of childcare facilities. Our volunteers are able to relief some of the burden placed on the local staff which in return, provides greater one to one care where the children can all get the attention and care they deserve.
  • Local employment: As our programmes aim to provide a near all inclusive approach, we are able to provide many employment opportunities. Our local teams can include cleaners, cooks, local coordinators and drivers.
  • Economic benefits: As a lot of our destinations are based within small local towns, a lot of the independent shops, restaurants, transport services and other business all benefit from increased trade that our volunteers bring.
