Our mission is to improve livelihoods through agricultural innovation and environmental protection. This is exactly what being a garden volunteer at MyFarm is all about.

In The Gambia, and Africa as a whole, we are facing a critical period. Food security is a major concern over the coming decades, deforestation is accelerating, putting even more of a strain on the poorest continent on the planet. We believe that through education, training, and showcasing what is possible, we can be a part of the change to help ensure the food security of the country and the wider world.

Our permaculture gardens sustain not only ourselves but also provide us all we need to produce the huge array of food and beauty products we make. This direct link from garden to production is one of the things that makes MyFarm so special and our garden so important. We run innovative seed to business training programs where trainees will learn how to improve their land, therefore improving their yield, and then are taught the skills and given the confidence to turn what they produce into a business...improving their livelihood.

We showcase good organic agricultural practices by using them every day at MyFarm. You will not find a drop of fertilizer or pesticides on the farm, and our productivity has increased year on year since we were founded. This knowledge is then shared with anyone who visits the farm, and through our specialised education technology, we test on-site.

Your Role As A Garden Volunteer
