This project focuses on providing education to the orphans and vulnerable children in Wakiso district and surrounding areas. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
The program
Trust Future Uganda would like to invite you to volunteer with us in our understaffed Nursery and Primary school where we educated orphans and vulnerable children.  The school to date educates over 180 children providing them lessons in Mathematics, English, Science, Social studies, Physical Education(PE) and Art for children in lower Primary and nursery. Our school is not yet funded by any company or organization but only a few individuals so we can not afford to pay enough teachers to educate these children, this has at many points caused these children to miss a lesson because one teacher has to go to more than one class to teach more than one lesson in just one day.

Your Contribution

You do not need to have a previous experience in teaching because you will have enough time of orientation from both our teaching staffs and the entire Trust Future Uganda working team where you will be introduced on how the Ugandan school syllabus runs, the different subjects and the abilities of our children, we are sure that your presence will be of great value and a big contribution in the education of these children.

Art and Physical Education.

As a physical Education teacher, you will have a wide range of activities  to do with the children for-example physical exercise, games like foot ball, netball and running, music and dancing, and may others. We also welcome new ideas and forms of games a volunteer may be knowing from back home.

As an Art teacher, you will have an interesting time with children of different ages, classes and abilities in activities like drawing, painting, using colors and making different playing toys from our local materials or materials from outside the country. We also welcome new art ideas and forms of art a volunteer may be knowing from back home.

The Location

This project is located in the outskirts of Kampala with in the great wakiso region 6 kilometers from the city center. The place is still developing with several markets, a few private schools and an average population with 60% children, 30% youths and 10% adults. The area has a few hills and an average population.

The area has a tropical climate with an average annual temperature is 21.8 °C, you can carry sun cream and some light clothes but not too short on you provided it gets warmer and also you will need a rain jacket or rain jacket just in case it rains. The two months it rains most are April and November.

Typical day

Each day is unique and interesting when working with children as you will get to know more about these children individually, besides the normal class lessons, children will also do their best to try and teach you our local language, the songs they know and also the games they have been taught in there previous years. Volunteering in a new place can be challenging at times but the strength and resilience of the children will inspire you to persevere.

Free-time activities

Uganda has so much to offer to volunteers, with its rich culture, festivals, food, art & craft centers, long sandy beaches, national parks, waterfalls, rain forest and other interesting places to visit.
