We are looking for photography volunteers to create photographic content to add to our image library and support our causes. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

We are looking for photography volunteers to create photographic content to add to our image library and support our causes. Ultimately, we are looking for innovative people like you, who can bring ideas on how we can achieve this!

 PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

  • Attend and document exciting projects and events
  • Creation of photo content for our website and social media channels
  • Creation of photo content to showcase our projects and team
  • Development of our long-term communications strategies

Having great images of our events helps us to promote our organization via a website, brochures, and social media. It’s also a great networking opportunities for photographers who want to reach out to our local communities

Typical day

ABOUT THE SCHEDULE
A typical day looks like the following: At 9AM TO 10 AM volunteers will have breakfast, 11 AM  the volunteer program begins and ends at 1 PM. We go back to the compound and freshen up. Lunch is usually served at 1PM TO 2PM From 2PM to 5 PM  volunteers have free time. From 5PM to 8 PM there volunteers spend time with kids from the local community. Dinner is served at 9PM.

SUMMARY
From 10AM TO 1PM during weekdays volunteers will have two options

  1. Moving around the community taking photos, in a bid to describe the socio-economic activities through photography
  2. spending time at the local school, orphanage, daycare where they will seek to capture moments to describe activities that take place in the said facilities

From 2PM to 5PM volunteers will have their free time.

From 5PM TO 8PM volunteers spend time with children from the local community where they can take photos as they engage them in

  • Assisting with homework
  • Dancing
  • Games and sports
  • Art work
  • Watching educational movies
  • Teaching basic English

Free-time activities

During free time volunteers can engage in the following
  •  jogging, walking, or going to the gym
  •  take a tour of the local community and meeting locals
  •  undertake cooking lessons where they will be trained on how to cook local recipes
  •  undertake language lessons where they will be taught the local language which is Swahili
  • visiting restaurants,,supermarkets, the local market, and pubs
  • touring the capital city Nairobi
  • visiting our tourism sites such as game parks

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (basic level)
Criminal Background Check

Education Requirements
Basic knowledge in english grammar at At least the volunteer should have completed high school education level
Required Documents
CV, Proof of education and proof criminal background check
Nationality Restrictions
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 - 16:00

Accommodation

Located in Githurai 45 Kiambu County Kenya,approximately 15km off the capital city Nairobi.The accomodation is a one bedroomed apartment with the following features

  1. Sitting room with an adjacent kitchen which has running water.The sitting room is spacious,and well ventilated,and has good lighting.
  2. One bedroom with a double decker bed.Its spacious,well ventilated with good lighting.
  3. Bathroom which has running water,
The area is quiet and serene with a spacious compound which has a garden

We offer meals that can also cater for vegetarians

  1. Breakfast- tea,coffee,milk,bread,eggs,snacks,bananas,apple,mangoes,paw paw
  2. Lunch- Rice,beans,green grams,wheat,yams,cassavas,spaghetti,potatoes,beef,local vegetables,kales,cabbages,maize,noodles 
  3. Supper- Rice,green grams,wheat,yams,cassavas,spaghetti,potatoes,beef,local vegetables,kales,cabbages,maize,noodles

Good access at the project site
What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. We assist you to find cheap flights to Kenya.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Kenya provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Kenya you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Kenya.

Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with worldmeetskenya during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
