In this volunteer work, you are helping a Chilean organization to support people living on the street. Founded in 1977, the charitable organization has a total of five projects fighting against poverty. Nearly 100 people in need of assistance are cared for in the homeless project. Many of them lived for years without a roof over their heads.
Special knowledge of this type of volunteering in Chile is not required. However, you should be able to take on responsibilities and work independently. Do not be afraid of extreme situations, because you will surely meet people who live in circumstances that you find hard to imagine.
Your volunteer activities in Chile can vary. Tasks may include:

• Accompanying social workers on tours
• Making first contact with the homeless
• Helping with the delivery of meals
• Assisting in health care programs
• Registering people in need, together with their background to host them within the project
Note: The tasks may vary. They depend on factors such as number of
volunteers, weather, season, current needs of the project, as well as
self-motivation. Not every volunteer may be fully involved in all these
tasks.
