We are looking for Charity Office Interns to work with us on our online marketing strategy, social media management, day-to-day administration and program management. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

We are seeking enthusiastic Charity Office Interns to assist us with our marketing and IT strategy.

We work across the areas of Health, Environment, and Education to address the needs of the local populace in Migori County. The education rate in our region is one of the lowest in Kenya, at 21%. Situated close to Lake Victoria, HIV/AIDS and malaria pose serious threats to the wellbeing of our communities. In Migori County, we aim to improve health access to essential services, educate about health, human rights and the environment, and provide community members with the tools they need to be self-reliant in the long term. You will work in conjunction with our current Executive Director, Edward Kabaka, who founded Rieko Kenya in 2007. In addition to collaboration with Edward, you will work with our administrative staff and current project teams.

Volunteers are a vital part of our programming and are one of our biggest assets. We maintain a small team, so volunteers are instrumental in assisting us with the outreach and education programs we run to address these issues. Charity Office Interns play a key role in facilitating management of these programs and ensuring they run well, and are well staffed. Specifically, this would include website management, online marketing of current programs,  day to day administration and program management for existing Rieko Kenya outreach programs. Because we have many outreach programs, we encourage all interns to spend some time visiting our current projects in Migori County.

You are welcome to volunteer as long as you would like, from three weeks to a year! Rieko Kenya is unable to financially sponsor Long-Term Visas but can provide endorsement for any Visas when staying longer than three months.

All of our projects are based in Migori County, located in South-West Kenya bordering Tanzania, Lake Victoria, and the famous Massai Mara Game Reserve.

Typical day

To get a good understanding of our programs and what we do, you would spend 30% of your time at program sites, and close to 70% of your time at our Offices in Migori County, usually from 8am - 5pm. Your responsibilities may include social media and website management, the creation of promotional materials, grants and proposal writing, and day to day administration of Rieko Kenya project affairs. If you have specific expertise in one of these areas, we welcome your ideas and input in piloting your own initiative within our organization.

Free-time activities

Migori County has beautiful natural areas, with the shores of Lake Victoria close by and many nature hikes in the region. Travel to neighboring areas of Kenya, some of Kenya's many national parks, or to our closely beaches can be easily coordinated. These make for great weekend excursions. We are happy to discuss more of these with you.
