Choose to spend a more meaningful vacation contributing your valuable time volunteering with orphaned children in Kenya. We invite enthusiastic volunteers to provide care and support to underprivileged children in Kenya. Help is needed to improve the living conditions and provide stimulating educational activities for the children.

During this volunteering in Kenya at an orphanage project, you will work on the front lines to feed and provide assistance to these forgotten little ones. Children in these centers need your special encouragement to restore their hope for a meaningful future. Your work in this volunteering opportunity in a Kenyan orphanage project will be very challenging, but the children share so much appreciation with the volunteers that it is all worth it.

Role of Volunteer

Although this is not an official teaching placement, you may teach conversational English during your volunteering in Kenya at an orphanage program.

You will support recreational and artistic activities with the objective of entertaining and teaching. You will also help in the kitchen serving lunch in the dining room and assist with location-specific duties like routine maintenance and construction. Your role is invaluable to these children! You can also expect to be involved in duties like:

  • Teaching basic conversational English
  • Developing creative free-time programs such as dance, arts, music and other physical activities
  • Helping children with various health and personal hygiene needs
  • Teaching life-skills
  • Housekeeping, as well as cooking and serving food to the children
  • Farming in the homes garden

Typical day

The work starts at 8 am and volunteers will have a lunch break. Volunteers work up to 4 pm. Your schedule will vary with the department attached in withing this project

Free-time activities

While in the community volunteers will be involved in intercultural learning events during their free time where you will have home visits, language sessions and attending cultural events. This will hence enable you to learn and understand the local population more. In addition volunteers will be involved in sporting activities with the local youths, have free time at the coastal beach and get to know more of the history of the town by visiting the historical sites with Mombasa.
