This buzzing and colorful project works with children in Cochabamba, offering them Circus Arts classes. For the last 10 years, the
project grew and it is now involved in many aspects of social work and education. But the circus-project is still the heart of the
organization and during the classes the kids, often from problematic and violent backgrounds, learn different types of performing arts,
including juggling, unicycle riding, diabolo, poi, aerial acrobatics, trapeze, hand to hand acrobatics, dance, clowning, etc. The key aim
of Circus Arts classes is to teach the kids skills that will increase their coordination and concentration as well as develop self-esteem
and self-determination, which is fundamental to develop new perspectives. The national and international volunteers are the thriving
motor of this project and working here is truly working in a circus-like environment. Besides the circus-classes, they also need people
working in marketing, social media and nutrition.
Possible tasks:
You might take Spanish classes from 8:30 - 12:30. You have to take a trufi - you will learn about that - to get to the school. After lunch you will take a ride to one of the projects education centers and meet up with your colleagues.
In the afternoon you the kids come in and you keep on working with two of them on that one trick with the pois
you started yesterday while a colleague is teaching a group of new kids
how to balance on a rope. Later you all sit together and support the
children with their homework while someone is preparing some snacks and
drinks for the group.
If you want and there is still some
energy left, you work the photos you took earlier to post something
about your work on the projects Facebook page or you write an E-mail to
your acrobat friends in your home country to ask for donations.
We will pick you up from the airport anytime and bring you to your accommodation on the day you arrive.
This program is paused due to COVID-19
