Our volunteers work with vulnerable children, women and elderly caretakers to meet the practical physical and emotional needs of these target groups. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

Our Program

Community Development volunteers will work with orphans, elderly caretakers, HIV-positive children, women and other vulnerable groups. Our volunteers will conduct home and school based visits to meet the practical as well as psychosocial needs of our target groups.

Our objectives of this program are

  • To improve the status and well-being of vulnerable children through support and care in order for them to access essential needs such as education, shelter, clothes, food and medical care.
  • To provide counseling and recreational activities for vulnerable children.
  • To provide home and school visits for HIV-positive individuals and other vulnerable households in order to monitor clients progress.
  • To raise awareness to vulnerable individuals regarding issues of reproductive health, human rights, life skills, and behavioral change

Our Volunteers

Our program is ideal for volunteers that like to get a hands on experience in caring for vulnerable children and women living with HIV and elderly people’s work or that have a kind heart, open mind and a sharing attitude. They should be interested in interaction with this vulnerable group in our deprived communities.

Volunteers also get direct contribution to our support and care cause to give these vulnerable groups a “second chance” to rebuild their hope. The environment is so supportive and volunteers will work with a team of like-minded and professional people like community development officers, lawyers, social workers, psychologists/counselors and health workers.

Amongst others you should be

  • Ready to work with orphans, HIV positive children and women and youth
  • Innovative with arranging lessons or sessions and games for the children.
  • Be ready for a very fragile community (changing characters)
  • Willing to work long hours and on weekends incase a need arises.
  • Willing to play and interact with children including those living with HIV/AIDS, disabled
  • Emotionally strong

The daily tasks of our volunteers can vary from day to day, but in general they are as follows

  • provide social support to HIV-affected households, orphans and other vulnerable populations.
  • provide school and home-based counseling.
  • educate in nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, and other life skills.
