Ireland is a wonderful country; it is safe, friendly, English speaking, rich in heritage, history and culture. From vibrant, exciting cities to spectacular countryside – it’s a magical place to visit. It’s also a wonderful place to stay and immerse yourself doing meaningful volunteer work.

This programme is for participants who are flexible and want to experience more than one type of volunteer project.  These placement generally include work in a charity shop + the possibility to get involved in one or more projects. We work with different community projects in specific locations around the country including in Clonmel and in County Kerry. 

Projects includes:

- Charity Shops 

Volunteer work includes: Provide sales assistance to customers, ensure goods are well displayed, sorting donations etc.

- Tourist Office

Volunteer work includes: Provide assistance to visitors, assist local staff in administrative tasks etc.

- Community Clean up

Volunteer work includes: Take part in the in community clean up with local community group to improve the local environment and make it a better place to live

- Assisting at local events (e.g. sports events, festivals etc.)

Volunteer work includes: Assist with crowd/ticket control, providing information to the public etc.

- Day Care Centre for Elderly people

Volunteer work includes: Assist local staff in running activities with local elderly people, organise games, serve food or simply have a chat and bring your positive energy!

Volunteers work approximately 25 - 30h per week with two days off.

Who are we looking for?

Volunteers are required to be adaptable, flexible people. The must be over 18 when the project starts. They will join a group of workers and local volunteers comprised of people from different backgrounds and different age group. Volunteers need to be able to partake in teamwork, but personal motivation, maturity and responsibility are also important. 

Volunteers joining the project should have at least an intermediate level of spoken English

Location

Diverse location around the country including:

County Kerry: this is one of the most visited region in Ireland  with wonderful landscapes and natural wonders such as the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National or Dingle Peninsula. 

Clonmel: Clonmel town is a busy town that provides shopping and various services for people of the surrounding rural area. It has a population of about 18,000 people. It is located 2 ½ hours from the capital city Dublin and 1 ½ hours from Cork city. Clonmel is well served by bus and train services. The town is nestled in the Comeragh Mountains with the Knockmealdown Mountains to the South and legendary Slievenamon to the East. Hillwalking and cycling are popular local activities. There is always something happening in Clonmel, with frequent theatre, concerts, live music, art exhibitions and festivals.

Free-time activities

Volunteers have two days off per week. During their free time, volunteers can discover the Irish country side, local towns and natural wonders. Generally volunteers travel in small groups during their free time.

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (intermediate level)

Nationality Restrictions
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 09:30 - 16:00

Airport Pickup at Cork Airport
Pick up is included for participants arriving in Cork airport. Participants arriving in another airport will be provided with all necessary information.
Accommodation
Volunteers will live in local host family accommodation allowing you to get a real sense of life in an Irish family and community. Meals will be provided along with a packed lunch as needed. Host families are based within walking distance of the project or near a public transport that allow the volunteer to reach the project easily. Family come in all shapes and sizes (e.g. parents and children, single host mother etc.). The first night of the programme is in a shared dormitory in a hostel in Cork city.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Cork Airport (ORK) in Cork. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ireland.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ireland provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Ireland you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ireland.

Arrival in Cork airport:

Participants are picked up by a driver who will be waiting with a sign displaying the participants’ name. Participants are transferred to a hostel, located in Cork city centre.

Arrival at different airport

Volunteers who arrived at a different airport (Dublin, Shannon, Kerry, Waterford) need to make their own way to Cork. It is very easy to join Cork city from Dublin airport as there are buses from just outside the arrival terminal in Dublin that go directly to Cork city centre. Detailed information on transfers to Cork will be provided by CTL Ireland.

First day and Overnight in Cork city

Volunteers stay at a pre-booked hostel for their first night in Cork city. The hostel is located in the city centre, a very short walk from all the shops and attractions of the city. After checking in, participants have some free time to rest and to discover Cork city. A welcome dinner is generally organised on the first night.

Second Day: Orientation and Transfer to Project

On the morning of their second day, participants will take part in a comprehensive orientation workshop which lasts 3 to 4 hours followed by a walking tour. Participants are then transferred to their project by public transportation.

The organization charges its fees in EUR. The price table in USD is subject to currency fluctuation. CTL Ireland will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with CTL Ireland during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
