Volunteers provide a support service to individuals and their caregivers by assisting with meals, providing spiritual/emotional encouragement to clients and their family, recreational support, respite care and basic assistance with daily activities. If you have an interest in the healthc are industry, you can volunteer at local hospitals, hospice, rehabilitation centre, clinic and long term/palliative care facility. Many hospitals and residential care units involve volunteers in a variety of roles.
Volunteers can:
During the weekend, volunteer have spare time and usually just relax or take the opportunity to explore other parts of their local town, join and participate in local games/sports, recreational facilities; visit friends, Tourist sites in Kenya and Eastern Africa. Long weekends can be taken to travel further afield (i.e. Nairobi, Mombasa, Uganda or Tanzania) or to embark on a safari. If a volunteer wish to volunteer over the weekends they can join local teams and visit other orphanages (or other children helping organizations) to spend time simply playing with and entertaining the children and or participating in social and cultural activities/ games.
Registration Fee (Refundable if you choose not to proceed). The fee covers – 24/7 support from RHD HQ’s Office, Airport pick-up and back, program marketing costs, information pack, administration costs, travel costs to inspect programs and communication costs with volunteers.
We do offer Airport pick up and drop off, and transportation from hotel/ host family to the project site.
We offer free Accommodation by providing Host family accommodation for our volunteers.
Volunteer can either choose to stay in a Hotel and personally pay for accommodation and food charges; or be offered free accommodation to stay with a host family.
In case the volunteer want to stay with a host family, he/she must agree to assist the host family – partially in purchasing meals, electricity and water bills and other basic needs.
Breakfast, soft drinks and vegetarian diet available.
