About the program

Help Us Educate The World!
MyFarm is the creative hub of our organisation where we test, trial, and improve educational concepts, that are then used across the world! It is the centre of a far-reaching educational movement we believe can change the world!

Volunteers specifically making content for us have the opportunity to see their creations used all over the world!

Every week at MyFarm you will be assigned a topic of activities to get involved with. You will take notes, pictures, and videos of everything you do and we will help you create educational apps around that topic. Sometimes you will be assigned farming activities or environmental science, even just fun educational games children can play at home.

What is our educational universe of apps?
Leap Learning, our implementation partner has developed a universe of educational apps with everything from foundational numeracy to creativity and music, the educational potential is unlimited! These apps are used by hundreds of thousands of children and adults across the globe...This all starts at MyFarm.

Each app is designed to make students feel like they are mastering learning and therefore eager to learn more and more!

Education is the foundation for a better future...we have made it our mission to build those foundations all over the world!

Experience The Real Africa

Gambia is the smallest country in Africa, that doesn't mean that there is not much going on. Gambia has so much to offer.

Spend time upcountry (rural Gambia) for a true African experience. Upcountry is beautiful and our team know all the tips to make you have the most wonderful time. Highlights include Wassu stone circles, take a boat ride with Gambia's wild hippos or visit the incredible chimpanzee rehabilitation project. Upcountry you will find all sorts of amazing wildlife, including crocodiles, baboons, hippos, red colubus monkeys, hundreds of bird species and much more.

Bird Watching

Gambia is famous for its birds, in face there are over 700 resident species in the country...amazing for such a small place. The thick mangroves forests hugging the coastal and river regions is just the perfect sanctuary, you will get to experience all of this during your stay

Spend Your Weekends In Gambia's Many Eco Lodges

Gambia has so many amazing eco lodges. Most of them are set in thick jungle, use composting toilet and all have their own vegetable gardens. These eco lodges are beautiful places to be and we have great contacts with all of them, many will even offer discounts to Myfarm volunteers so you will get the best deals too. Footsteps eco lodge and Nemasu are particular highlights in the coastal region. At Bintang Bolong lodge you may even be lucky enough to see dolphins more than 60 miles in land.

Other Highlights
  • Kayaking through the mangroves at Tanji
  • Crocodile pool in Bakau
  • Beautiful beaches
  • quad biking through the jungle
  • Bird watching in Gunjur
  • Boat trip to Senegal

About the project

MyFarm provides "An Educational Journey From Seed To Business" MyFarm is a creative hub where skills and knowledge are shared with people of all ages.

Meet your host

An educational journey from seed to business”

MyFarm is exactly that! Our beautiful one-hectare farm is a creative hub where people of all ages learn, train, and share knowledge in and amongst the mixed fruit orchard.

MyFarm showcases sustainable technologies by using them practically and shares this knowledge with all who want to learn. Why? We believe in the sharing of knowledge and skills, especially if it will help towards a more sustainable future.

Innovative learning techniques are tested, trialed, and improved at MyFarm to get them ready to be shipped across the world. Leap Learning (our lead partner) uses specialised Learning Labs that are designed for children (and all ages) to learn to learn. Each Learning Lab uses unique apps and hands on games at different stations around the room, this ensures the children can use at their own level and pace. Learn more here: www.leaplearning.com

MyFarm aims to showcase a holistic approach to learning by showcasing how things relate to each other. Training programs specially designed by our team are how we share out our knowledge and skills.

Get ready for the experience of a lifetime!

Are you a positive and proactive person who has a passion for education, environmental awareness, and loves being, and working outside?

Then volunteering at MyFarm will be perfect for you!

Specific volunteering programs are available, but as MyFarm is a creative hub with so many things going on, from entrepreneurship training to our innovative learning labs, and garden and farming activities, you can also do a little bit of everything!

You will stay in the beautiful gardens in either our newly built volunteer's house or in one of the traditional huts we have dotted around the farm. Every day you will be treated to beautiful peaceful sunrises and colourful sunsets that filter through our canopy of mango trees. It's basic living, but you will have all that you will need. Real Gambian breakfasts and lunches are provided on request by our team our beautiful cooks…What more could you want :)
