Share your passion for arts, crafts, culture and sports and help us offer extra curricular activities for the local community and youth. 

Organize artistic, cultural and sports workshops open to all every week, as well as monthly shows for or with the locals (children, teenagers and adults combined). Your mission will be to share your artistic knowledge ( in art, drama, dance, music .... etc) and to help our local team in the preparation and staging of monthly shows. In parallel, you can also offer workshops, games and other community based or eco-responsible activities, depending on your interests and knowledge. You'll also help the team round up the locals to participate in activities, advertise the monthly show, prepare costumes, instruments, buy equipment and everything else that goes with organizing community events ! 


Typical day

9am a healthy and varied Colombian breakfast will be made (in turn) by volunteers and our local team

9h30 Prepare the day with our local team and other volunteers during a short meeting 
10h prepare the centre for your activities / prepare any materials or equipment you may need
10h30 Children and families arrive for activities 
12h00 Activities end, time to tidy up
12h300 Lunch break - take a nap in a hammock or on one of our outdoor beds ! Lunch will be made by our local team or a local cook ! 
14h00 Another group arrives for activities 
15h30 End activities
15h30 Advertise for the next show (shouting out in the street is a very local form of communication for example ! ) 
16h00 debrief with the team 
16h3O Help with the community centre maintenance and admin (attendance lists, painting, decoration etc) 
17h30 end of volunteering day
Evenings : beach walks, beach parties (with moderation), chilling out with the local community and one a month SHOW TIME ; you'll be able to show off your hard work and present the show you have prepared with other volunteers and our local team 

Free-time activities

You can go snorkeling, diving or take a boat trip to one of the nearby islands, chilling out, reading books, meeting new people, walking, trips to the mangroves, listening to music, beach walks, beach parties. Note : Please do not organise your own beach parties, the locals will invite you to their beach parties and this way we avoid any inacceptable behavior

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Airport Pickup at Rafael Nunez International Airport

We pick you up in Cartagena in the morning and take you to our project by bus and then by motorbike (so please do not bring suitcases but rather backpacks !). Please note that if you arrive at night you will have to arrange your own hotel for the first night in Cartagena.

Accommodation

You will live in a guest house for volunteers. You may have to share a room with one or more other volunteers. Mosquito nets are provided, outdoor beds are also available to make the most of warm, starry Caribbean nights if you wish. A living room and kitchen are shared as well as outdoor living space (a terrace and garden for those of you with green fingers). Washing is done by hand, the local way or with our washing machine when it is free ! 

Food & Beverages

Vegetarian and other dietary requirements available upon request

Volunteers take turns to prepare breakfast (from local fruit and produce)

Lunch is provided and you can cook your own dinner or try out a local restaurant (prices vary from 3000 pesos to 35000 pesos)

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Rafael Nunez International Airport (CTG) in Cartagena. We assist you to find cheap flights to Colombia.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Colombia provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Colombia you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Colombia.

Details on arrival

You can arrive any day you wish, any time of the year (except Christmas Day and New Year!) Please arrive in Cartagena in the morning so as to have time to travel to the project during daytime. If you do arrive at night we can recommend a hotel for you near the airport and our team will pick you up the next morning.

The organization charges its fees in EUR. The price table in USD is subject to currency fluctuation. LifeTime Projects will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with LifeTime Projects during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
