Grow Ghana - Grow Yourself
Teach pupils & students in digital & soft skills that really matter for their future. Run & develop our education program together with our local team. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
We care about true impact. This is why we put a high effort in designing, preparing and conducting the school workshops. We are dedicated to empower our students to make a real change & impact for Ghana.

  • Key part of our program are workshops at schools with pupils aged 12-18 years (Junior & Senior High School)
    • On 3-4 days per week, we run workshops at local schools
    • Our program is on top of the regular school curriculum and have a focus on digital & soft skills
    • We use experimental coding (Raspberry Pi) and tools like LEGO & Eit-ech to practically teach
      • Critical thinking
      • Team work
      • Leadership
      • Communication
    • The topics are prepared from us and are easy to learn & adapt for the volunteers - you do not have to be an IT expert to create impact!
    • However, we are always happy to include your ideas!
  • On top, we run workshops at universities and youth initiatives from time to time, the students are aged 19-25 years
    • We focus on an entrepreneurial business topics, e.g.
      • Agile Team Management & Scrum
      • Leadership Culture
      • Negotiation Skills
      • Business Case Studies & Pitch Simulation

The volunteers support our local team in creating, preparing and conducting these workshops and initiatives. Based on your experience and interests, you can focus on the topics that are most interesting for you and were you can create the biggest impact.

Typical day

Every day is different in Africa, ...
... but a typical project day looks like this:

  • 08-09 am african breakfast in your lodge (+jogging at the beach if you like?!)
  • 09-10 am morning briefing with the team
    • preparation of next school session
    • organizational topics & addtl. project ideas
  • 10-12 am school session 
    • 1-4 volunteers run the school workshops together with 1-2 local staff
    • the roles will be discussed upfront
  • 12-02 pm african lunch break
  • 02-04 pm de-briefing & content development with the team
    • feedback from last school session
    • improvement of excisting workshop content
    • development of new workshop content 
    • organizational topics & project ideas

Free-time activities

Our little paradise Kokrobite is a hot spot for backpackers & volunteers, interested in the "untouched" pure Africa - off the beaten track. You can swim & surf in the ocean, there are Yoga and drum lessons available, each weekend there are legendary Reggea nights and the vibrant capital Accra is just an hour away. You can also explore the surrounding villages, mountains and pure beaches along the Gold Coast. Africa is different and never boring - that's a promise.

Water Sports


In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

What's Included

Services by Grow Ghana
Your fees contribute 100% to our project budget and ensure our sustainability. We are a registered NGO. Your fees are used according to the guidlines of the Ghana Welfare Department for NGOs / Non-Profits.

Airport Pickup at Kotoka International Airport

One of our team members always pick you up from the airport and ensures that you arrive safely at your lodge. The airport is approx. 1 hour away from the project. Akwaaba to Ghana!


We partner with 2 selected local lodges right at Kokrobite, both direclty at the beach in a beautiful environment. The lodges are 5-10 mins from the schools and the Grow Ghana office.

We can organize for you upon request:

  • Single room (standard: shared room)
  • En-suite bathroom (depends on availability, standard: shared bathroom) 
  • The lodges are truly African and provide a good standard (clean and nice, but not luxury)

Food & Beverages
Your lodge serves you a standard breakfast to get you started for the day. For lunch and dinner, a lot of local and very affordable alternatives are available nearly 24/7 (incl. scenic beach restaurants).
Internet Access
Limited access at the project site
What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ghana.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ghana provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Ghana you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ghana.

Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Grow Ghana will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Grow Ghana during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
