You speak basic Spanish, have a strong will to help, are able to improvise and cope with simple conditions? Help according your talents and interests! This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 20+

Los Frailes (State Zulia, approx. 70km from Maracaibo) – The project Benposta has about 2 hectares of land, where younger kids are taken care of. They also have an elementary school there, circus classes, “Benposta-Bank” and “Benposta-Shop”, Residence for the kids, etc. (see also photos). The location is quite remote (no or hardly any public transport).

  • Basic Spanish communication skills! (The better your Spanish the more you profit from it, English is not spoken!)
  • Vocation of service / will to help
  • Having own iniciative (Improvisation is often needed in South America!)
  • Creativity and if possible vocation to teach art stuff (circus skills, painting, music, carpentry, agriculture, etc. – of course not all needed!)
  • Teachers/Doctors are welcome (not required)
  • Minimum volunteer stay three months
  • Collect donations in your surrounding to bring along to Benposta, such as paint brushes, pencils, sharpener, rubber/eraser, exercise books, toys, presents, etc.
  • Good character
  • During your stay you have to give good example for the kids (general behaviour, i.e. clean your own apartment, etc.)
  • Vocation of service and will to work where needed
  • Minimum stay two months
  • No drugs!
  • Any economic support you can provide/organize is welcome

Free-time activities

According to possibilities volunteers will be shown the surroundings and nearby local tourist attractions.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 20 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak Spanish (basic level)
Nationality Restrictions
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Other Skills
Creativity, will to teach art stuff like circus skills, painting, music, carpentry, agriculture, etc. – of course not all needed, according to personal preferences.
Time Commitment

Included Services

Airport Pickup at Manuel Carlos Piar Guayana Airport

Accomodation is very simple and depends on the project location. There's usually no running water from the tap available. Water has to be taken from water pots. Internet is only available when the volunteers are in the project center.

Food and drinks are included for the volunteers, but usually no special wishes (Vegetarian, etc.) can be granted. It's available what's prepared for the children and staff of Benposta Venezuela.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Manuel Carlos Piar Guayana Airport (PZO) in Puerto Ordaz. We assist you to find cheap flights to Venezuela.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Venezuela provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Venezuela you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Venezuela.
