The program
Teaching volunteers should look no further than this wonderful program situated in the Tabanan region on the west coast of Bali. This breath-taking region features an abundance of terraced rice paddies, black sand beaches with fantastic surf and picturesque mountains. Locals here support themselves mainly through farming and tourism, where sound knowledge of the English language is essential for employment opportunities. This teaching program supports these wonderful, but impoverished families, enabling their children to learn the skills required to better enhance their futures. Volunteers will work to provide free English language lessons to under-privileged children at a non-profit learning center. Around 60 children, ranging in ages from 5 – 18 years attend the classes. This project is a great way for international volunteers to learn more about the Balinese people and culture, teach those in need and spend time exploring this magical location.
Goals of this Project:
Volunteers on this inspiring program will supply free English language lessons to children at a non-profit learning center. They will teach around 60 students ranging in ages from 5 – 18 years, starting at the basics and moving to writing and grammar. Four levels of English are taught by international teachers volunteering their expertise and time. Volunteers are encouraged to put their own personality into the lessons, create their own lesson plans and incorporate new learning techniques and experiences for the students. Fun and creative lessons are encouraged and well received. At the center volunteers will be supported by local staff with classes running from Monday to Thursday from 2 – 4pm, giving participants the added bonus of 3-day weekends to explore the magical island of Bali! With the knowledge and confidence to partake in conversational English with foreigners, these children will have the tools for a brighter future. It is recommended that volunteers research teaching English as a second language techniques and creative ways to do so before embarking on this epic adventure!
Volunteers will contribute in a number of ways and can expect to undertake the following tasks:

Volunteers on this amazing program have the opportunity to stay where it all began; in the founder's home village in the unique Hill region of Bali.
Rice paddies form an undeniable feature of life in this area and the west coast beaches are only 20 minutes away so the region offers a variety of natural attractions for the international visitor.
Upon arrival into Denpasar you will be met by a representative from the local team. The first night's accommodation is provided at a volunteer Guesthouse in Ubud.
On Sunday an orientation session takes place which covers local and regional customs, transport, rules and recommendations and, of course, what to expect from your volunteering placement. Following the orientation you will be taken to your project location to meet with the local supervisor and enjoy a tour of the village.
Volunteers on this amazing program are accommodated in a Guest House run by a local family. Five rooms are available with each room shared between 2 volunteers and split by gender. Rooms each have a western-style bathrooms with showers.
Ceiling fans are available for comfort in the summer months and bed linen is provided so volunteers need only bring their own towel and personal toiletries. Laundry services are available for a small fee and bicycles and motorbikes can be hired.
Wi-Fi is freely available in the house so keeping in touch with friends and family is easy.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided while volunteering, Monday to Thursday. Friday to Sunday offer an opportunity to explore this incredible region and enjoy the local fare.
This program is paused due to COVID-19
