Volunteer in Kenya and teach young children. You will assist local teachers as a classroom assistant and get involved in teaching lessons such as, English, art and sport This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

We believe that, every child deserves an education.

When girls and boys are empowered with quality education, they thrive and secure a better future for themselves and their families later in life.

English is a very important subject at elementary level. However, English language taught in rural schools is basic as local teachers have no proper training to teach correct pronunciation or even conversational skills. Hence, children often find it very hard to improve their English language.

With this high demand for English fluency, your volunteer contribution in teaching English in rural schools is greatly appreciated. You will use your skill in English to improve children conversation and pronunciation skills. This is a great opportunity for you to gain work experience, and at the same time, help children understand English language much better. Volunteer presence will encourage the students to speak English and gradually the students will build their self-confidence. Student will also be excited to have you in their classroom.

No TEFL or other formal teaching qualification is required. Whether you are a student on break or qualified teacher, or you are new to the field, whatever your experience, you will have a role to fill in our rural schools. You can teach as part of a gap year student, or a qualified teacher. Retirees are also welcomed.

A volunteer will assist local teachers with classes, teaching children English language to strengthen students’ conversational and pronunciation skills. You will use interactive lessons that encourage students to speak English. Ability to read and write in good English will help students to understand the questions better and can perform well and qualify for higher education. A volunteer can also get involved in teaching lessons such as sports, art, drama and computer. You will be provided with a proper orientation and teaching materials, including textbooks for your class.
