Age 18+

The Bolashaq teaching program "Go Nomads" is a great opportunity for foreigners to make an internship in one of Universities or high schools in Kazakhstan and experience Kazakhstan's society and culture. This amazing project was created with the goal of helping to improve the English speaking abilities of the students. The main aim of this project is to give an opportunity for local students to improve their speaking skills in English language. Volunteers will work at local universities in Kazakhstan. There will be a manager in every University who is responsible for each volunteer. As is common in many of the developing world's communities, an ability to speak English unlocks a new world of possibilities – in education and in job opportunities, as well as opening themselves up to learning more about the world. Volunteers on this highly inclusive program have the opportunity to get first-hand experience in teaching English classes in a various universities across the country. Volunteers will meet more than one hundred and fifty motivated students of different ages, from seven right through to fifty-five! Volunteers will have the ability to change lives for the better in Kazakhstan, giving participants additional options in life.

Where you will work and live?

Our volunteer program gives an opportunity to work in a number of Universities through the country. Mostly, all universities are located at urban cities such as Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Aktobe and etc. In every city you can find something to do. We have plenty of museums, theatres, shopping malls. Winter naturally starts with continuous snow cover from the north of the country in November and can last as long as 5 months up to March. The lowest temperatures are characteristic for the northeastern part where frosts can reach -20C while the southern temperatures are rare to fall lower than -10C. When it comes to the Winter in Southern Kazakhstan, it can be snowy, but not severe. It is mild and pleasant. Average temperature in winter is   +1C with a little snow or drizzle. But most of the time it is very warm in comparison to the north.

Usually, volunteers are provided with dormitory(one placed room with an own bathroom and kitchen) from the host university, which is 5-15 minutes walk from the main building where they will work.

How you can help?

We expect from volunteers to work as a TA (teacher assistant) of Professor or teacher in a particular field of study and assist him\her in conducting classes. Volunteers as an intern are also supposed to organize speaking clubs, discussion sessions and other extracurricular activities with local students. The host university will supply with all nessecary equipment which volunteers need such as Internet access, a projector and etc.

What are we expect from volunteers?

  • assist a teacher at the University
  • organize activities which will improve speaking skills of local student

What volunteers can expect from us?

After having negotiations with all big universities of our country we managed that a host universities provide volunteers with accommodation, meal, round trip tickets and basic medical insurance. We would like to mention that we made sure that their adaptation to a new country, new culture and society went as good as possible, by organizing an introductory course on their first week after arrival. With the help of responsible person in a host university we build volunteer’s schedule including extra curriculum activities with students like English club, or public speaking classes. It is also our responsibility not to make their schedules too intensive, this is why we are in touch with volunteer and supervisor to make certain that both can reach us easily. We provide them all kind of support starting from issuing necessary visa documents from our side, picking them up from the airport and introducing to a supervisor at a host university

Host university provide with accomodation (dormitory, rented flat, host family), meals 3 times/roundtrip flight (*depends on University-one is guaranteed) and medical insurance (standard cover).

Typical day

There is no fixed schedule for a volunteer; the detailed timetable will be approved upon your arrival and check-in at the university.
However, usually volunteer will work 4-5 hours per day and Saturday, Sunday are days-off. As it was mentioned before volunteers don not have a fixed typical day, as it should be disscused at the host university. Thus, the approximate daily routine will consisit of having breakfast at roughly 8.30 am at host university's canteen. Then, volunteer will join the lessons so that they can assist teacher with the delievering of classes. The lessons end at roughly 1 pm, after that volunteer should organize any activities which will help to improve students' english speaking skills. You should organize speaking clubs, discussion sessions and other extracurricular activities with local students. It is supposed that at 4-5 pm your day finishes and you have a free time to explore the beautiful and modern city.

Free-time activities

The Great Outdoors Kazakhstan is definitely an outdoor country with a beautiful landscape. Without leaving the environs of Almaty you can ski at Shymbulak, go biking in the Tien Shan mountains, or hike, horseride or quadbike through Charyn Canyon. In 250 kilometers away from Astana is located Burabay (Borovoe) National Nature Park, the resort pearl of Kazakhstan. You can observe gorgeous pine forests, cliffs formed of neat gigantic natural bricks, and fantastical shapes of peaks.
Charyn Canyon - a natural monument, built of sedimentary rocks, whose age is about 12 million years. The height of the steep canyon mountains reaches 150-300 m. The multicolored rock layers are the product of different stages of sediment deposits, from volcanic lava rocks at the bottom to red debris on top, deposited by the rivers that once flowed through.
Baikonur cosmodrome is a huge complex of rocket launches, the first and the largest space center in the world. The spaceport is located in the desert steppe of Baikonur, about 200 kilometres (124 mi) east of the Aral Sea and north of the river Syr Darya. It is near the Tyuratam railway station and is about 90 metres (300 ft) above sea level. Baikonur cosmodrome and the city of Baikonur celebrated the 63rd anniversary of the foundation on June 2, 2018.
Lake Kaindy in southern Kazakhstan is one of the newest and most unique natural wonders on our planet. Especially beautiful in the fall (autumn), Lake Kaindy boasts not only exceptionally attractive blue color of water and snowy rocky mountains surrounding it but also the unique, silver trunks of dead spruce sticking out of the lake's surface. The "flooded forest"is indeed one of the natural landmarks of Kazakhstan. It all creates a fairytale like scenery, not seen anywhere else.
Borovoye is called the "pearl of Kazakhstan" and "Kazakhstani Switzerland.“ The national natural park "Burabay" (Borovoye) is an incredibly beautiful attractive region with magnificent forests and curative lakes, with pine air and rare landscapes of beauty and originality that make this corner of Kazakhstan a true pearl.
