The volunteer will live in a family home or a volunteer home in case of being a large group. Near beaches to relax, enjoy dreamlike views and enjoy the sea at its most optimal temperature.
The environmental problems are not alien in Galapagos. Help us fight climate change in a habitat as special as the Islands!
The volunteer must arrive at the project with a predisposition to carry out the activities that are needed on the Island. The support from NatuTrip together with the project will be constant.

CLIMATE IN GALÁPAGOS The archipelago is located exactly on the equator line. Marine currents originate microclimates in the archipelago and temperatures range between 15 and 35 degrees. The periods of greatest rainfall are concentrated from January to March.

LANGUAGE AND LOCAL CURRENCY The official language is Spanish. The currency that the volunteer must use is the United States Dollar.

Free-time activities

PUERTO BAQUERIZO MORENO The capital of the Galapagos Islands where you can get most things: clothes, book to travel around the islands, bank tellers (to get cash). This is the government house, there are also museums, bars, discos.

MANN BEACH This beach is very close to the city and is located in front of the San Francisco University of Quito, and is a very suitable place to sunbathe, watch the sunset, swim. There is a small bar where they sell industrial and craft beers. Local people cook delicious meals on their grills.

CERRO TIJERETAS A journey of about 1.5 kilometers, outside the city of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, takes approximately 30 minutes. Where I could see a specular view of the white beaches, Sleeping Lion, statue of Charles Darwin, etc. And to the other side you can see the population of San Cristóbal. You can also watch birds (female / male frigates, pelicans, finches, etc.) and at the foot of the hill you can snorkel with a variety of fish, rays, turtles, etc.

LA GALAPAGUERA It is a semi-natural place of turtles, it was built by the Galapagos National Park. The journey lasts an hour and offers a natural dirt and rock path that is easily accessible, where you can see giant adult turtles. There are also turtle eggs in the developing incubator, and captive turtles of different ages feeding, until they can grow a little more and Be released to the natural habitat. There is also a small information and photo center, where you can report on the hatching of turtles, development, etc.

PUNTA CAROLA BEACH It is a beach very close to the town (15 minutes on foot), where you can enjoy the scenery, waves, marine iguanas, blue footed boobies, juvenile and adult pelicans, etc. It is also very suitable for sunbathing, watching the sunset, doing snorkeling, to watch fish and sea turtles.

LAGUNA EL JUNCO It is located in the upper part of the island (south west), in the humid zone of Miconia 700 meters high and has a fresh water crater and a wonderful view of the deep sea. It is an important place for birds (frigate) where they wash their salt water beaks.

PUERTO CHINO It is at the other end of the island and at the end of the main street, there is a beautiful, extraordinary beach. The sand is very fine and soft, clean water and sea turtles, which makes a special beach. One tip: walk to the rocks on the right side of the beach you can see some blue-footed boobies or Pelicans Also, the view from there is amazing!

LEÓN DORMIDO Known to foreigners as Kicker Rock, it is a fascinating place for its huge rock in the middle of the sea, which It reaches 152 meters high, 4 miles from the central western coast of San Cristobal and its huge form of a sleeping lion has made it an ideal place for tourists who love diving and snorkeling. Where you can see different species such as: Stripes, Galapagos sharks, hammerhead shark, whitefin shark, sea ​​turtles, gringos fish, tambulero fish, etc.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak Spanish (intermediate level) or English (basic level)
Nationality Restrictions
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 12:30

What's Included

Services by NatuTrip
This project does not receive money from the government, it is maintained with the action and contributions of the volunteers. The money is used to contribute to the project, site maintenance and expenses generated by volunteers, such as food, transportation from the airport.
Airport Pickup at San Cristobal Airport
Project managers will go to the airport with the NatuTrip sign to find them and take them to the project.
Accommodation
The volunteer house has capacity for 20 people, the beds are equipped with pillows, sheets and blankets, they must maintain the cleanliness that is in charge of a family member and also the volunteers, so we ask your collaboration to keep everything in perfect state. There is a laundry area and it is located outside the house, they can use the washing stone or otherwise a few blocks away there are laundry services. The family house has two rooms, one for women and one for men, private bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. Total capacity 10 people. It has WiFi.
Food & Beverages
The programs include 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. They are based on traditional coastal dishes such as seafood, fish, bananas, rice, chicken, avocado, eggs, etc. Vegetarian people can apply to the project, they must first communicate it so special menus are prepared for them.

Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is San Cristobal Airport (SCY) in San Cristobal. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ecuador.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ecuador provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Ecuador you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ecuador.
