Our top priority is to create clean beaches and communities in Peru by educating the young to care for their environment This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

Our Environment project is an environmental education program that aims to change the attitudes and behaviour of the people who live in Huanchaco.
Unfortunately, it is common to see people in Huanchaco throwing garbage on the beach and on the streets. The objective of our program is to create a new generation of individuals more aware of the environment and who can take an active role in caring for the future of the planet.

VOlunteers will plan and deliver workshops around environmental issues for young children living in Huanchaco, in schools, community centres and community based activities.

Tasks to develop:
- Creation of workshops in schools, community centres and external events
- Creation of strategies to improve the project
- Support at events
- Care of hydroponic gardens

The volunteers will visit different schools to supply these educational classes. Not only this but beach clean and out of school acitvities are provided once a month to children on a Saturday. On this day you and the children will have a lovely day walking and cleaning whilst promoting litter reduction.

Typical day

Each schedule is tailored for you dependent on which projects you take part in, which can be more than one.

Every week we have Friday volunteer lunches and a project tour during your time here.

Free-time activities

Huanchaco is a beautiful coastal town where the waves are perfect all year long, for all types of surfers. Huanchaco is surrounded by some mountains where it is possible to go hiking (tours are arranged by local guides, at reasonable prices). Furthermore, there's a beautiful white mountain range, the cordillera blanca, situated in Huaraz, fairly close to Huanchaco (9h bus ride), which offers a good many hiking and climbing possibilities in the most fascinating landscape. If you prefer cultural activities, we are a few minutes away from the Chan Chan and Huaca del sol y de la luna, which are among the most well-preserved temple ruins of the old Incan empire that can be found in Peru. The town of Huanchaco has a gym, and you can find some fields to play basketball and football close to the beach.
