This is a package program of six weeks designed for International Gappers who are looking to combine adventure and teaching practical skills with a local community. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

Nepal is a South Asian developing country with a rich cultural heritage. Situated in the lap of the Himalayas, Nepal is a land of ancient history, colorful cultures and people of warm hospitality. People from all over the world come to Nepal to explore the experience with adventures and discover unique ways of life.

Insight Nepal has newly introduced a specially designed program which is suitable for students looking for GAP year activities or internship opportunities and planning for a vacation, which is exciting, adventurous and socially meaningful at the same time.

If you are a student currently planning for your GAP experience, then you would be interested in this program.  You will be teaching skills in either of these following areas -

  • Arts and Crafts,
  • Sports/Games
  • Music and Dance,
  • Foreign language
  • Candle making
  • Sewing/Knitting and designing

There are some community projects and many community or private schools with children in the Pokhara valley, which are in need of teachers possessing such skills. Besides teaching, you may be involved in developing teaching materials. The duration of the teaching phase will be four weeks.

After the teaching phase, you can enjoy the thrilling of two-weeks adventure activities which consist of the following :

·         Trekking in Annapurna Mountains (8 days)                                     

·         Yoga and Meditation course (3 days)

·         White Water Rafting (1 day)

·         Jungle Safari in Chitwan National Park (3 days)





Typical day

  • The volunteer will be teaching 5 to 6 hours a day and 5 days a week.  The working hour will be from 10 am to 4 pm. Friday and Saturday will be off.  Volunteers can organize some personal activities independently in their free time.

Free-time activities

Volunteers can participate in various activities and visit several spots during the weekend and free time. Insight Nepal organizes some sightseeing tours at the beginning of the program.  There are many places to see and things to do in Pokhara. Volunteers can organize some activities by themselves in their free time.

Places to see: Phewa and Begnas lakes, World Peace Pagoda, International Mountain Museum, Devi's fall, Gupteshwor and Mahendra caves, Buddhist Monastery.

Things to do: Boating, Ultra-light flights, Hiking, Paragliding, River Rafting, Mountain biking, Fishing, swimming, etc

Water Sports


In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

What's Included

Services by Insight Nepal

A.  4-weeks  Volunteer placement  -   US$630
Program fee includes :

B.  Adventure Activities (2 weeks)  -   US$ 720

(Note: Fee includes all except for food during the trekking period).

Airport Pickup at Pokhara Airport
We will organize airport pick up for the coming volunteer at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or in the Pokhara Airport. The program will also provide one-night hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and a tourist bus transportation to Pokhara. If the volunteer is coming to Pokhara by bus we will receive him/her up from the bus stop. 

Insight Nepal organizes a Nepali homestay for a volunteer which will be near the placement site. The volunteer will be staying with the family for the whole period of placement. He/she will be provided one single room with basic facilities like electricity, bathroom, Wifi, etc. There will be around 2 to 4 members in the family and a few of them will be able to communicate in English.

Guest Family
Food & Beverages
Morning tea, Breakfast or morning meal will be served around 9.30am and dinner in the evening. Big meals will be served as Nepali meal (Dalbhat) with rice or bread (chapati), noodles.  Bread with jam and butter, cornflakes/milk, some fruits along with tea will be provided for the breakfast. Coffee is not common. Generally, filter/boiled water will be provided which is safe for drinking. There will be a break at the working placement for tea and snacks.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Pokhara Airport (PKR) in Pokhara. We assist you to find cheap flights to Nepal.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Nepal provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Nepal you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Nepal.

Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Insight Nepal during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
