Increasing Employability - Pre Departure Program Training:
Our programs are not only life-changing experiences but are also designed to help participants increase their employability. We have developed a curriculum to be completed prior to arrival in the country in order to ensure that more time is dedicated to program work once you commence your volunteer program.

Eight weeks prior to your start date, you will complete the following online courses in preparation for your in-country program:
  • PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION (1 hour)
  • PROGRAM SPECIFIC TRAINING (1 - 5 hours)
  • COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COURSE (10 - 15 hours)
  • LEADERSHIP COURSE (10 - 15 hours)

In order to obtain a certificate for the Community Development, Leadership and Careers courses which are endorsed by the University of Richmond and UNC Charlotte, you will need to complete quizzes & assignments and will be given 4 weeks post program to submit your work.

Expect a busy day-to-day, including full days teaching, planning and preparing for lessons and workshops, as well as a minimum of two hours of training each week. • Mondays to Fridays will be spent working with some of the most marginalized members of the Siem Reap community and supporting them to learn English as well as running workshops to raise awareness on basic hygiene and healthcare practices.
  • The projects that we get involved in will depend on the needs of the community at that exact time, and as such, participants should be prepared to be flexible and adapt to changes in the field.
  • As an intern you will have weekly mentor meetings and reflection sessions, you will also complete an internship project.

Travel further afield to visit the capital city of Phnom Penh and enjoy the electric atmosphere of the bustling riverside, visit the sprawling markets or immerse yourself in the history of the Khmer Rouge with its sights and museums. Journey further south to the many spectacular islands off the southern tip of Cambodia where you can spend the weekend island hopping where you can enjoy the stunning beaches, trek through uninhabited jungle or practice snorkeling as you explore the underwater world. Travel north and you will find the 12th century temple ruins from the Khmer Empire, the famous Angkor Wat.
