The Project
This project takes place in medical facilities and hospitals in Peru. It enables volunteers to help patients in various institutions in Cusco. The purpose of this project is to support the indigenous and socially ostracized Peruvians, who cannot afford comprehensive medical treatment. Due to the vast medical needs of this population, volunteers and donations are crucial. As a volunteer, you will gain invaluable, hands-on experience and will feel personally rewarded knowing that you made a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Volunteers are placed at public hospitals, children's cancer ward, and a maternity center. At each institution, the care provided by the medical staff stretches far beyond medical treatments. They also help create an environment that is comfortable and encouraging for the patients, and are always open to help them with any problems, questions, or needs.
Your Tasks
During your volunteer work, you will help doctors and nurses in one of the medical facilities where we place our volunteers. Depending on your previous knowledge, you will have the opportunity to apply and improve your medical skills. If you don't have any previous knowledge in health care, you will be able to closely observe the nurses' and doctors' duties, assisting when needed. Health care students will have additional tasks, including support in treatments and examinations, as well as support for the medical staff. Recent graduates will be able to support the doctors and nursing staff in a great role. Professionals are very welcome to join this project. You volunteer work may require the use of medical work clothes, which can be purchased in Cusco.

In your spare time, there is a wide range of activities to choose from. Most volunteers explore the nature and culture of Peru while also taking in the amazing landscapes that the country has to offer. Volunteers can also socialize in bars or restaurants.
Our super tip! The world famous Inca site Machu Picchu is not far away!!
One of the most important aspects of our volunteer work programs in Peru is ensuring that we place our volunteers with a carefully selected host family. The experience of living with a local family will give you the chance to not only improve your Spanish language skills, but also gain authentic insights into Peruvian culture and family life.
Peru is also known for its delicious cuisine. Your family will provide you with half-board, which allows you to learn about authentic Peruvian delicacies. If you need some privacy, you can relax in your own single room provided by the family. The bathroom is shared with other family members.
Half-board is provided (breakfast, dinner).
