To work with Children and their adult care givers on how to maintain a safe health home Environment, Disease prevention, care and treatment. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

Each year, millions of children are affected or die due to malnutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and poor maternal health around the world. This affects their school attendance and performance in Uganda and in most of the developing countries. Therefore in our effort to promote under privileged children’s Education attendance and performance, we organize and facilitate human health care conferences and training to equip community members and children basic methods of preventing and controlling the spread of certain diseases.

Village Hope International exists to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children who have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities. This program consists of activities that address disease prevention, care and control. The following areas of volunteering are available:

1. Promotion of personal hygiene: This activity is specially designed to prevent hygiene related diseases among children and their adult care givers. Dental health problems, cholera, diarrhea, dysentery and typhoid have got causes related to negligence of personal hygiene. We encourage volunteers with natural and professional skills of public health to join us in this bid to promote personal hygiene. Personal hygiene is also good at preventing skin diseases like ring warms, fungal infections among others.
Our volunteer in this area work with;  local health practitioners, doctors and village health teams in home steads, in community meeting and in our partner health facilities- both private and government owned,  to pass the message of good personal hygiene directly to the local communities. Where need be for diagnosis, we offer them preventive gear like latex gloves among others.
2. Maintaining proper home environment: Home environment contributes a lot to the health of the members of a house hold. In most cases, there are very many diseases that are related to home environment. This is a public health concern, therefore, we encourage volunteers with skills in this preventive health area to register for it. We carry out activities like sensitizing the locals on the importance of having a pit latrine in a home, having a plates stand and avoiding decomposing garbage near homes.
3. Home based management of common childhood diseases: You will work with our partner institutions, schools and in meetings to train care givers and children on nutrition, maternal health, and first aid skills.
4. HIV/AIDS and Malaria sensitization, prevention and care: This includes training people through public meetings, workshops, preventive measures of HIV/AIDS, malaria prevention, care and treatment. Work to prevent stigma, if your a medical doctor, you will be joining other local doctors to carry out medical camps in schools, at major health facilities to carry out voluntary testing, counseling and care for malaria and HIV/AIDS.
