In this program, you will have the opportunity to live the day-to-day life of a farm and help the mistreated and old horses that live in this Horse Sanctuary. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

In this program, you will have the opportunity to live the day-to-day life of a farm and help the mistreated and old horses that live in this Horse Sanctuary.

If you are a nature and animal lover, this is the right program for you! Just 1h30 away from Barcelona by train, you will find this farm and Horse Sanctuary where you will be able to help with the day-to-day activities, learn about the farm life and help animals in need.

The aim of this non-profit is to support the Defense of Equines and other farm animals. To achieve that, this organization rescues them from abuse, provides them with a healthy and happy life, and finds them other adoptive families; They collaborate with other entities to raise awareness of children and adults for this cause, among other ways of fighting for animal protection.

The daily tasks can vary but can be as follows:

-        Clean the animal places

-        Feed the animals

-        Medical help to the animals

-        Interact with the animals

-        Help the visitors exploring the park

You will be accommodated in a beautiful country house in the same area as the farm and will have all the comforts such as a kitchen, washing machine, Wi-Fi, television, cleaning person once a week... and farm support from a worker during the day. Since you will have to cook your own meals the program team will take you to the supermarket once or twice a week.

Typical day

This is an example of a daily schedule:

  1. 8:00 Get the dogs out of their bedrooms
  2. 8:15 Human, cat and canine breakfasts
  3. 8:45 Check pigeons, quarantine zone water, and start equine breakfasts
  4. 9:00 Equine breakfasts, approximately half a book of forage per animal
  5. 9:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. Clean-up around the dog treats house
  6. 10-12 Daily tasks of maintenance and care of animals
  7. 12 - sunset, house cleaning, own work...
  8. Dusk-night: Equine dinners as well as breakfasts, dinners of goats, pigs and sheep
  9. Bedtime 22-24: Close the dogs, each one in his place with his goodnight treat, turn off all the lights and see you tomorrow.

Free-time activities

Barcelona is an enchanting seaside city with boundless culture, fabled architecture, sun-drenched beaches and picturesque neighborhoods. The local team will give you practical information and some tips to make the most out of your stay.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 - 13:00

Airport Pickup at Barcelona-El Prat Airport

We will pick you up at the airport at any time on the weekend before your arrival. Our team will be there waiting for you and we will take you by public transportation to the accommodation. It takes about 45 minutes from the airport to the accommodation.

The accommodation is a house at the farm. It's a house with a few bedrooms a shared kitchen and living room with great conditions.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on the first 2 days in Barcelona and then you will have to buy and cook your own meals.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) in Barcelona. We assist you to find cheap flights to Spain.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Spain provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Spain you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Spain.

Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with ImpacTrip during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
