Contribute to multiple causes in a youth-driven community service project in Indonesia. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
Gain a plethora of first-hand experience in collaborating with partner communities, as well as managing the organisation at its headquarters that will surely prepare you for a competitive professional future!

On this volunteering trip to Indonesia, you will join a diverse range of student volunteers in their daily tasks, such as making inventories and archiving, as well as taking part in conducting research and facilitating community service projects in the field. There are a wide range of projects with diverse focus areas, from the empowerment of women and children to developing community-based tourism.

A university town will be your base – an opportunity to immerse yourself in campus and community life. A day’s orientation session will help with that, as well as a quick lesson in Bahasa Indonesia. You will also stay with a local host family, who’ll help you navigate Java and its rich traditional culture and bustling city scenes.

Typical day

Welcome to your project! On arrival, you will be picked up by a local staff/volunteer and taken to your accommodation to rest. You must have had a long journey, and you're best prepared for the orientation the next day!

You will undergo an orientation on your intercultural experience ahead. The orientation includes introduction of organization, managing hopes and concerns, basic Bahasa Indonesia, rules and regulations, and emergency procedures. You will also be briefed about your volunteering project by its staff. At the end of the day, you will depart to your project location and meet your host family.

There will be an induction, and then the volunteering activities will commence. You will work with fellow volunteers on various community service projects that may be in progress during your stay. You may come along on visits to potential collaborating organization or current ones, and be asked to assist in events held at the headquarters.

During your free time and weekends, you are free to explore the area and experience the local culture as you wish!

On a monthly basis, you will have a 1 to 2-hour session with fellow volunteers and staff to discuss your experience so far, and how to move forward with your current situation.

Before your departure home, you will have an end-of-stay orientation to reflect on your experiences and how it affects your perspective.

Free-time activities

Spend your weekends getting to know Indonesia beyond the university campus. Explore Singhasari temple, visit the Mangun Dharma Art Centre, peruse Purwodadi Botanical Garden, or relax at Balekambang Beach just outside of the city.
