Summary: 

Given that LAFF is a small volunteer-led charity, the Programme Coordinator provides support to the Programme Manager on all aspects of LAFF's internal operations, programme planning, reporting, budgeting and delivery. This is a diverse role that encompasses all facets of NGO management. 

Requirements:

  1. Undergraduate Degree (or currently enrolled) in International/Sustainable Development, NGO management or related field, or equivalent experience working in a similar role
  2. 6 months of volunteering or work experience in the NGO sector highly desirable 
  3. A strong passion to develop skills related to the not-for-profit sector 
  4. Administrative experience and research skills required 
  5. Proficiency in written and spoken English required. Intermediate level Spanish abilities desired
  6. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  7. Solid report-writing skills
  8. Extensive experience with MS Office 
  9. Highly organised, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive and detail oriented with the ability to multitask. 

We are looking for motivated self-starters who are able to work independently as well as being good team players. A non-judgmental approach and commitment to learning is essential, as well as a positive outlook and preparedness for the realities of volunteering in a Latin American country. 

Note: Volunteers are expected to cover all their own costs - including flights, visas, insurance and living expenses. Applications not compliant with the instructions above will not be accepted. All successful volunteer applicants from the UK must undergo a police check and/or provide two personal references prior to acceptance. LAFF will hold interviews with suitable applicants. Due to the high volume of applications, we are only able to contact successful applicants.

Typical day

Responsibilities: 

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Programme Coordinator will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

  • Provide administrative and logistical support.
  • Organize, schedule and take part in meetings, interviews and events when necessary.
  • Draft documents, contracts and agreements. 
  • Ensure that all data and policies are consistent, thorough and accessible.
  • Identify needs from our partners/beneficiaries and provide technical support when relevant.
  • Design and deliver short-term workshops when relevant.
  • Conduct research, market studies and baseline studies.
  • Represent LAFF when necessary and expand its local network in Cusco
  • Help the Programme Manager develop and maintain good relationships with partners.
  • Use initiative and creativity to contribute towards the internal development of LAFF. 
  • Visit projects to follow up progress on various activities.

You can never run out of things to do in Cusco! Close to Machu Picchu and wonderful hiking opportunities, and you're always surrounded by beautiful scenery. 

There are also numerous sports clubs in the city to join and an array of cultural activities. The beautiful and sociable city of Cusco is also within reach of Lima, Lake Titicaca and the Amazon rainforest! You will be part of a small and friendly LAFF team with whom you can socialise and undertake these activities in your spare time.

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

You need to speak English (fluently) or Spanish (intermediate level)

We are looking for self-assured, motivated self starters who are able to work independently.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 - 17:30

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) in Cuzco. We assist you to find cheap flights to Peru.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Peru provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Peru you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Peru.
