About the Program

Looking for a chance to improve Spanish language skills and obtain hands-on experience in the International Development industry?

 Under the supervision of the International Partnerships Manager, and on occasion under the supervision of Program Coordinators, the volunteer International Partnerships Assistant is expected to carry out a variety of tasks, including providing administrative and logistical support, organizing and scheduling meetings and events, identifying the needs of partners and beneficiaries, and providing technical support when relevant, designing and delivering short-term workshops, conducting research, market studies, and baseline studies, developing and carrying out surveys, identifying new potential partners, and visiting projects to follow up progress on various activities. 

LAFF is a UK-registered charity supporting marginalised children and young people in Peru. We work through local organisations in Cusco and support activities and projects in the areas of formal education, vocational skills and personal development, and sustainability, including income generation, cost reduction and capacity building. We strive to empower our beneficiaries, enabling them to become independent and sustainable. 


  1. Undergraduate Degree (or currently enrolled) in International/Sustainable Development, NGO management or related field, or equivalent experience working in a similar role
  2. 6 months of volunteering or work experience in the NGO sector highly desirable 
  3. A strong passion to develop skills related to the not-for-profit sector 
  4. Administrative experience and research skills required 
  5. Proficiency in written and spoken English required. Intermediate level Spanish abilities desired
  6. Solid report-writing skills
  7. Extensive experience with MS Office 

Note: Volunteers are expected to cover all their own costs - including flights, visas, insurance and living expenses.  

Typical day

Working hours are 10am-4pm Monday to Friday. Although visits to projects will be part of the role, it is mainly office-based.

Some typical duties include: 

  • Provide administrative and logistical support.
  • Organize and schedule meetings and events when necessary.
  • Identify needs from our partners/beneficiaries and provide technical support when relevant.
  • Design and deliver short term workshops when relevant.
  • Conduct research, markets studies and baselines studies.
  • Develop and carry out surveys.
  • Identify new potential partners.
  • Visit projects to follow up progress on various activities.

Free-time activities

You can never run out of things to do in Cusco! Close to Machu Picchu and wonderful hiking opportunities, and you're always surrounded by beautiful scenery. 

There are also numerous sports clubs in the city to join and an array of cultural activities. The beautiful and sociable city of Cusco is also within reach of Lima, Lake Titicaca and the Amazon rainforest! You will be part of a small and friendly LAFF team with whom you can socialise and undertake these activities in your spare time.


Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (fluently) and Spanish (intermediate level)

Other Skills
• Minimum of 6 months of volunteering and/or work experience. Field and/or international development experience.
• Administrative and/or research skills and experience preferred.

• Highly organized, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive and detail oriented with ability to multitask.
• Solid report-writing skills.

We are looking for self-assured, motivated self starters who are able to work independently.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 - 17:30

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. We assist you to find cheap flights to Peru.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Peru provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Peru you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Peru.
