An experiential life skills coaching targeting primary school pupils during school breaks. We use Music and football as the tool. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

"Kesho Leo" is a Swahili term directly translated to mean " Tomorrow Today" in essence, we are referring to making a better future through change actions that we take today.

It aims at bringing senior primary school pupils from different backgrounds across the village of Nyakach together, using football and music as the medium and thereafter training them in life skills. This project has been informed by the high number of primary school drop out rates among girls majorly due to early pregnancies and also among boys as they waste away into drug abuse and fishing.

This will provide space and opportunity for the children to constructively engage each other in informative discussions in matters affecting and contributing to their development and therefore build their confidence in speaking out about domestic challenges that might affect their school retention early enough to warrant remedial interventions.
We will also have their parents/guardians taking part in some of the forums as a measure to encourage open parent to cbild/ child to parent talks in matters reproductive health and other issues pertinent to the children's development.
The activities will include inter-participants soccer, music and dance, field plays and games, debates, classroom discussions and a final certificates awards ceremony in an open ground to be attended by the community members.

Free-time activities

During volunteers free time, they can go bird watching, tour some of the 20 islands in the nearby community of Homabay. Make safari trip to the beautiful Maasai Mara, visit the coastal beaches of Mombasa and some historic sites in the region like, Kit Mikayi in Kisumu, Got Ramogi, a historic hill where the first luo community settled as they migrated from Sudan. The hill has Ten surrounding historic sites filled with indigenous trees and a wide range of birds. There is also good entertainment joints for the lovers of music and the volunteers can have a feel of local live music and general club music.
