The volunteer will assist in taking care of a small group of lemurs, and a small herd of cattle. Will also assist with grounds maintenance and planting browse and other vegetation. Also assist with establishing vegetable garden and crops to feed animals year round. Must be able to be alone sometimes and not be afraid to stay in a remote area in a house on the property. Staff will try to assist with transport to off site activities where possible. Hours are flexible but during the week there is morning and afternoon animal feeding. Weekends can be off as desired. Some days are spent outside in hot weather depending on the season but breaks are extended during the heat of the day. Must have valid Tetanus vaccination before arriving. Must be okay with being around Florida insects. Must understand enough English to follow procedures so everyone stays safe.
Typical day
Get up around 8 am, feed and clean lemurs. Feed cat , perform any special projects on site.lunch break then afternoon chores and animal feeding by 6 PM.
Free-time activities
Florida offers a variety of activities but we are remote and car is necessary. Staff will be able to accommodate some transportation based on distance and schedules. We cannot always guarantee that we can provide transportation but will do our best. There are taxi services but volunteer will have to pay for these services.

Requirements
In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak English (basic level)
Biology, Animal or Veterinary Science, Zoology. at Some university level
Proof of Tetanus vaccine, proof of negative rapid COVID test upon arrival and letter of motivation and CV/resume
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Must understand English and speak basic English. Previous primate or zoo experience is a plus.

What's Included
Fees include pick up and drop off from and to Tampa airport. Includes room and board and amenities.
Founder or husband will pick up and drop off from and to Tampa airport.
Wifi is available. Washer and dryer on site, each volunteer will have a private bedroom in main house but may share a bathroom with other volunteer. Pool is available. TV, shared living room and large kitchen with appliances such as refrigerator, microwave and stove.
We provide standard foods and drinks and will give volunteers the opportunity to shop for food. Any special food needs will have to be agreed upon prior to arrival to see if surcharge applies or not. Volunteer is to prepare/cook their own foods.
Good access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
The nearest airport is Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Tampa. We assist you to find cheap flights to United States.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for United States provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in United States you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for United States.

Arrivals and departures should be planned on a Saturday. Pick up and drop off from and to the Taampa airport are free.
Arrivals should be no later than 1 PM and departures no earlier than 9 AM on Saturdays.
