On this internship, you will be based initially on GVI’s  base in the Dawasamu District. The traditional villages, dense jungle, mountains, and beautiful coastline of the area makes a truly amazing environment in which to live and work.

From Monday to Friday you will spend your mornings in the community, teaching and organising educational activities for children. Breakfast is nice and early, in order to provide enough time for you to travel to school for morning assembly and possibly a staff meeting. In addition to assisting in the classroom, delivering english and art lessons, running sports activities. You will also work towards an ILM accredited qualification in leadership.

After a successful training phase with GVI, you will be placed at a local partner organisation or assist the GVI team in the operations and management of the project for your work placement. Tasks and activities will continue along the same lines as the expedition, but you will be expected to take on more responsibility, putting your leadership learnings to practice.

Those enrolled in the internship will also help to manage volunteers and coordinate aspects of the wider project. Working in local rural schools and also in surrounding communities will depend on the requirements at the time, though your primary focus will remain providing educational activities and supporting classroom activities where possible. The overall goal of this project is to provide much needed assistance to overworked local teachers in order to ensure the delivery of a higher standard of education to the children and the community.
