Your first full day takes place in the breathtaking Kruger National Park where you’ll make camp and get ready for a full day of Game Viewing. Guided by the EcoLife Staff, you’ll see the astounding wildlife just outside your bus window!
Next up on The Marine Biology & Conservation Expedition is magical Mozambique and a campsite to run the next day’s Marine Biology Research station from!
This research also includes a visit to the Marine Biology Department at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo before the scenic trip to the Marine Biology Research Station on Inhaca Island for two days of studying, adventure amongst the marine ecology, turtles, and corrals (all while staying in comfortable chalets).
Sunday of The Marine Biology & Conservation Expedition is the start of a rare adventure: Ponta Do Ouro and the Galagala Camp Site!
While here, you’ll enjoy a dolphin snorkeling course that prepares you for the experience ahead-learn how to swim amongst and observe marine mammals, engaging them in a calm and respectful way.
See these wonderful animals on a Sunrise Boat Trip full of Dolphin and Whale Watching on Monday morning followed by the Discover Scuba Pool Session in the afternoon! Camp out on the beach with your peers each night after these incredible experiences!
Tuesday on Galagala, The Marine Biology & Conservation Expedition plunges you into the Big Blue on a morning Scuba Sea and Coral Reef Dive followed by a talk on ocean ecology and pollution over lunch before a visit to the lighthouse at sunset!
Another Sunrise Boat Trip of marine life watching is Wednesday Morning before an afternoon reviewing the images and videos from your Dolphin Diaries, a great chance to reflect on and enjoy this rare experience with your fellow scientists and nature lovers!
Thursday takes us to the next stop on The Marine Biology & Conservation Expedition: Kosi Bay and the Utshwayelo Camp!
Your guide and mentor for the next four days will be Dr. Scott Kyle, the Director of Marine Biology Research!
Friday is a unique experience-Lookout Point plays host to a walk among the fish traps, snorkeling in the mouth of the Kosi Estuary, and then a whale and turtle presentation after dinner!
Camp out on the beach before a relaxing Saturday of Beach leisure and an enjoyable Boat Trip on the Lakes of Kosi Bay!
Sunday on the Isimangaliso World Heritage Site is a special opportunity to explore St. Lucia Bay via Boat Trip and enjoy a dinner presentation about this unique World Heritage Site.
Take your explorations to the land again as your last full day of The Marine Biology & Conservation Expedition includes a Cape Vidal Game Drive before a dinner presentation on the management of Big Game Reserves.

Typical day


Day 1: Sunday - Arrival Day 

DAY 2: Monday - Kruger National Park
  • Depart after breakfast to drive to the Kruger National Park. Arrive and set up camp at one of the southern rest camps.
DAY 3: Tuesday - Game Viewing
  • Full day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park under the guidance of the EcuTour guide, from the comfort of the bus.
DAY 4: Wednesday - Drive to Mozambique
  • Strike camp and drive on to Mozambique. Arrive in Maputo and check in at a local guest lodge.
DAY 5: Thursday - Marine Biology Research Station
  • Visit the Marine Biology Department at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo in the morning for lectures and demonstrations and transfer to Inhaca Island in the afternoon.
  • Stay on the island at the Marine Biology Research Station in comfortable chalets.
DAY 6: Friday - Inhaca Island
  • Inhaca Island – Study the marine ecology, corrals, turtle ecology etc. with scientists on the island.
DAY 7: Saturday - Inhaca Island
  • Inhaca Island – Marine and mangrove biology study.
DAY 8: Sunday - Ponta do Ouro & GalaGala Camp Site 
DAY 9: Monday - Sunrise Boat Trip to look for Dolphins & Whales
  • Sunrise boat trip to look for dolphins & whales (±2hr).
  • After breakfast, Discover Scuba Theory.
  • Afternoon: Discover Scuba Pool Session.
DAY 10: Tuesday - Scuba Sea Dive & Sunset Lighthouse Hike
  • Sunrise boat trip to look for dolphins & whales (±2hr).
  • Morning: Discover Scuba Sea Dive and Coral reefs.
  • Sunset lighthouse hike and casual reserve talk.
DAY 11: Wednesday - Review Dolphin Diaries
  • Sunrise boat trip to look for dolphins & whales (±2hr).
DAY 12: Thursday - Head for Kosi Bay - Utshwayelo Camp
  • Sunrise boat trip to look for dolphins & whales (±2hr).
DAY 13: Friday - Kosi Estuary at Lookout Point
  • Our day starts at Kosi Mouth, with a presentation on the Kosi Estuary at Lookout Point.
  • This is followed by a walk among the fish traps with community members.
  • After lunch go snorkeling at the Kosi Mouth.
  • Dinner is followed by a presentation on turtles and whales.
  • Accommodation: Camping.
DAY 14: Saturday - Boat Trip on the Lakes 
DAY 15: Sunday - iSimangaliso World Heritage Site
  • Strike camp and journey onwards to St. Lucia Bay and the famous iSimangaliso World Heritage Site.
  • We arrive and set up camp before we gather for a briefing on the day’s activities which includes a boat trip on the St. Lucia Estuary to interpret the marine/aquatic ecology.
  • After dinner a presentation on the iSimangaliso World Heritage Site
DAY 16: Monday - Cape Vidal Game Drive
  • Game drive to Cape Vidal and after marine biology activities game drive to St. Lucia.
DAY 17: Tuesday - Departure Day
