As the Marketing & Communications Coordinator you will be responsible for the authentic representation of Intiwawa for the public in various media channels. In this position, you create marketing materials for Intiwawa and its projects, such as social media posts, newsletters, blog articles, photo and video marketing content, as well as manage our website and social media platforms. You will report to the General Director and work closely and collaboratively with all areas of the German and Peruvian teams to promote Intiwawa’s image, projects, campaigns, media content as well as develop a communications strategy to further develop Intiwawa’s objectives.

Responsibilities
  • In close partnership with the General Director, manage external communication and representation of Intiwawa through the website, newsletters and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Blog, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube,...), as well as internal communication between Intiwawa’s German and Peruvian teams.
  • Production of marketing materials (photos, flyers, videos, presentations etc.) for the local and international promotion of Intiwawa and its projects.
  • Coordination of the advertising for volunteer recruitment.
  • Monitor and analyse the statistics of our website, Facebook and other social media platforms
  • Update the Marketing strategy according to the statistics analysis
  • Establish a communications strategy for stakeholders
  • Review and implement our social media guidelines
Requirements
  • Excellent English and Spanish skills, written and spoken
  • Experience in Marketing Strategy and Social Media Management
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Photography, videography, and digital editing skills
  • Excellent self-management and organization skills
  • High level of independence, creativity and responsibility
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Minimum 6 months commitment

  • The position is voluntary (unpaid) and part-time (around 20-25 hours/week)

Typical day

It is really difficult to describe a typical day of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. As already mentioned before, the schedule is flexible and unconventional. Parts of the work have to be done online, for example managing the social media platforms. Other parts are onsite in the project, for example creating new marketing content making photos of the projects. 

Here is an example how a day could be: 

  • 8AM: start with your work remotely, updating the social media platforms and writing content for the next Intiwawa newsletter. 
  • 10AM: Meeting with several members of the Comité Peru to plan a new fundraising event, where Marketing is also very important
  • 1PM: meet with the Sales Coordinator and some Volunteers, make some photos with the new products of the knitting project for the advertisement in the shop
  • 3PM: go onsite to Casa Intiwawa (Mollebaya) and collect marketing content for the next Intiwawa impact video.

Arequipa is one of the most largest cities of Peru and provides a wide range of possibilities for your free time activities! Sports, as well as cultural events and sightseeing are only some examples. You can also use your free time to travel and get to know the country a little better.

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (intermediate level) or Spanish (basic level)

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Rodriguez Ballon International Airport (AQP) in Arequipa. We assist you to find cheap flights to Peru.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Peru provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Peru you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Peru.

Dates & Fees

Details on arrival

We are searching for a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to be onsite in Peru starting in February 2022. We do not have any specific arrival days, the arrival date will be coordinated individually together with the Volunteer Coordinator and the General Director. 

If desired, one of the Peruvian team or the Volunteer Coordinator can pick you up from the airport in Arequipa. 

As we do not charge a fee, we also do not provide free accommodation. But what we provide is the offer to have a long-term stay in a hostel where Intiwawa's volunteers get discounts. So, low-cost housing is available.
