The music program was one of the first initiatives of this lively and vital organization. They offer all sorts of activities all over town for
underprivileged and marginalized kids, some of them living on the streets, but the music-school and the small recording studio in the
west of the city is the heart of their music program. They offer classes in piano, guitar, bass, percussion instruments, Bolivian folklore
instruments, singing, music theory and songwriting classes. The goal is to offer young people a creative way for sharing their stories,
hopes, and dreams with the public and there is a small recording studio they can use under professional supervision. Their work has
earned them respect and recognition from top music professionals in the region and they are always in need of volunteers with a

musical background.

Possible tasks:
  • Teaching children and adolescents how to play instruments
  •  compose and record songs
  • organize and promote concerts
  •  produce album art,

Typical day

You might take Spanish classes from 8:30 - 12:30. You have to take a trufi - you will learn about that - to get to the school. After lunch, you will take a ride to the projects office and studio and meet up with your colleagues.

In the afternoon, the kids come in. You might teach two of them some basic chords on the guitar. Later a band shows up that was formed with the help of the project and they practice there twice a week. You kick in a jam with them and support them on writing own songs. You introduce them to basic principles of recording and plan with them a session for the next week.

In the evening, you leave with some fellow volunteers to have dinner in the center of the city and visit on of the many concerts that take place in whole Cochabamba.

Free-time activities

In Cochabamba you can find hospitals and western doctors, supermarkets,  good mobile signal and a vast cultural life. There are National Parks nearby, sportstudios, museums, music-schools and yoga studios. Hiking-trails  in the nearby mountains  and trips to Villa Tunari and other Bolivian Hotspots.
