About the Program

Although the Caminho Marinho has its main objective in sea turtles, our conception traps the endangered species, since for us, conservation depends on an economically viable, socially fair environment so that the ecological sustainability and consequent conservation of sea turtles is achieved in their entirety. fullness. Therefore, growing our own food in defense of our ideals from planting to harvesting is one of the legacies that our project intends to share with conservationist volunteers focused on a better future.

The community organic garden is linked to the ECOS Center - Education, communication and sustainability, in a place previously used as a deposit for pruning and other organic waste. In addition, the old municipal kennel was located next door where several dogs were taken in the last century. So why work in a place like this? The proposal is to break the paradigm of seeking protected areas from human action and rebuilding areas degraded by man and retransforming them into ecologically effective places, producing native fruits and vegetables; socially fair, sharing the production of the garden and economically productive and supportive, with the sale of local artisans' products at art, culture and music events always open to the public. "Praia do Cassino" has alternatives of commercial center, with handicraft shops, clothing, drugstores, and supermarkets, with 40,000 residents during the year and more than one million visitors in summer (southern hemisphere summer - December to February).
