Our Ghanaian shelter volunteer program seeks to address the numerous problems that many disadvantaged children without proper education, health care, food, love and attention face
as a result of the death and insanity of their parents. Disavantaged children everywhere need
care and love; you will be placed in a rural environment where you will teach,
love and care for these less fortunate children. You will help design and
execute effective teaching programs, activities and events to inspire and
develop the children’s talent and abilities through human interaction and care.
This program will also give you an opportunity to explore and understand the
Ghanaian people and their culture through the eyes of the people you are
helping.
As a shelter volunteer working with children in the shelter,
you will be helping the kids to learn life-skills that parents would normally
teach by getting involved in the day-to-day running of the home - making
sure the children are fed, washed and dressed, teaching the younger children,
playing games with them and paying them personal attention - you will be making
a really positive impact in their lives.
Whether you are helping older children with school homework, or playing a game
with the younger ones, you will be an important part in their development. Any
extra interests or skills that you have can be put to good use, so please let
our local staff know about them when you apply.
Voluntary childcare work in Ghana is an ideal way to get involved
and help improve the welfare of the children. You can contribute toward this
important development work during a gap year or career break, or as a
worthwhile way to spend a vacation. Energy, passion, and commitment to the work
at hand are all that you need. We have various different volunteer options for
you in Ghana, working in both foster homes and care centers.
Please note that your safety is very important to us. We will provide the support and guidance you need to carry out your work. You are also welcome to talk to our coordinators in your home countries.
Volunteering for Future For Africa is flexible. This provides you with great chances to get out and see as much of Ghana as you can. Weekends provide a good time to get into the cites and the countryside and see the sights or even take an overnight bus to an attraction further afield and you can take a few extra days on to weekend trips to make them worthwhile. Places to visit includes Mole National Park, Kakum National Park ,Paga Crocodile Pond ,Tongo Hills , Green House Eco Village Karimenga and the Cape Coast Castle
