Experience the beautiful Kynsa, South Africa and all its spectacular beaches, lagoons and forests and immerse yourself in a new Culture! Though this place seems to be a dream like paradise, there is still some major areas that requires assistance therefore, come now and become a volunteer to help by providing the much-needed teaching support and manpower to the local underprivileged pre-schools for children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. Work along and share new skills with teachers to help the children to have a brighter and promising future!
The Pre-schools that are in the underprivileged communities currently have very basic facilities and limited funding. The project’s main goal is to work in conjunction with local education authorities to identify schools that are desperately in need of support. As such, you as a volunteer will be involved in in assisting with teaching fun and educational lessons. You’ll also be helping the local children to develop important language and mathematical skills.

For a minimum of 4 weeks we hope that with your help, you can contribute towards empowering and educating the local children of Knysa’s underprivileged schools. Volunteers for this project support the teachers in whatever way they can and teaches them with new skills. You will also be involved in some renovations and maintenance of the school facilities and developing teaching resources. Some of your responsibilities will include:
On days off volunteers have tons of opportunity to go sightseeing, shopping, swimming at the beautiful beaches, snorkeling, surfing and so much more! Any activity out of the project will be covered by the volunteer themselves.
You will arrive in beautiful Cape Town or Johannesburg where you will either catch a connecting flight to GEORGE (GRJ) or take a bus from Cape Town or Johannesburg to the project. This allows you to have a better view of the area.
Volunteers will stay in a basic but clean and comfortable volunteer house with a dorm style sleeping arrangement. This house has great views over the mountains and you will have access to a communal kitchen and lounge area with TV/DVD player, hot water showers and electricity and free wifi and computer access. There is also a barbeque (braai) area and hammocks for you to enjoy. If you need, private and family rooms are available on request.
Three meals a day provided!
There aren’t any specific start dates, the project is opened all year round however they close in mid-December to mid-January. They also prefer applicant arrivals to be on every second Saturday!
