Something about Mombasa touches; it is a place of different cultures and an immensely diverse beaches that is both enjoyable and profoundly uplifting. On this 12 week volunteering adventure you’ll get the opportunity to visit 3 of those safari adventures: Mombasa, Tsavo Conservancy and Shimoni Resort.

Whether you’re a wide-eyed first-timer or a traveller, Mombasa cannot fail to get under your skin. The safari, sight seeing and beaches upon the seas is itself astonishing, and reason enough to visit. 

Mombasa is a friendly, energetic and culturally rich country, full of diverse wildlife, amazing beaches, gorgeous landscapes and not forgetting the friendly local communities.

During your stay here volunteers will get to experience just how vibrant this country as well as making a hugely positive impact through volunteering. 

Volunteers choose from helping to care for children; teaching skills that will help children improve their future job prospects; gain first-hand experience and insight into the health care system or brighten up the lives of vulnerable children and make a vital and important contribution to their daily lives.

Volunteers will contribute to programs designed to bring long-term support to those who need it most. Help provide essential childcare to struggling families in some of Mombasa poorest communities or teach English and a range of other subjects to underprivileged children.

Here is an idea of what you could be getting up to:
Mombasa City Tour 
  • Visit Central Market - one of the largest markets with lots of stalls and this throbbing market is utterly captivating
  • Mombasa National Cultural Center - inside the walls you find a lots of cultural products about the Mombasa history, you will visit Mombasa old town with national heritage and nice restaurants, 
  • Arabia Village - is one of the closest places where you can go to buy kente clothing and learn how they produce it
  • The town holds arabia histrionics events.
  • Shopping at the Market – A shopper’s paradise; this is the perfect place to find traditional African arts, crafts and paintings. Time to practise your bargaining skills!

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Airport Pickup at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
You should arrive into Jomo International Airport in Nairobi on the selected Sunday start date. 

You will be met at the airport by one of our local staff or an appointed driver who will be holding a named sign. They will take you to your accommodation where you will spend the rest of your day at leisure.
Accommodation
Your first night in Kenya will be spent at a hostel near to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Our partner hostel offers basic but comfortable accommodation. You will share a room with fellow volunteers. Rooms are air conditioned here. A member of the staff  team will also stay at the hostel to ensure you have 24/7 support and will travel with you to Mombasa the following day.
During your time in Mombasa you will live in our Volunteer House located in a friendly neighbourhood, 45 minutes drive from Mombasa city centre. You will find restaurants, convenience stores and ATMs in the centre of town. There is a small shop opposite the Volunteer House. The local community are extremely friendly. As soon as you step out of the house you’ll be greeted by smiling children! Just one of the amazing experiences you’ll have with us.

Food & Beverages
Volunteers will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner every day during their time in Kenya. Breakfast and dinner are served at the Volunteer House, whereas for lunch we provide you with a packed lunch or the project may provide you with lunch.
Please note most meals will incorporate lots of traditional foods so please be open minded around this! It may take you a few days for your body to accustom to the local food as well.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. We assist you to find cheap flights to Kenya.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Kenya provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Kenya you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Kenya.

The organization charges its fees in EUR. The price table in USD is subject to currency fluctuation. Musha Care Foundation will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Musha Care Foundation during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
