Volunteer assist with construction, maintenance, and painting. 

Volunteer tasks may include painting, building and general maintenance for poor schools and volunteer roles will vary ​according to the need at the time.

If you are someone who enjoys being outdoors and has a good level of fitness and a willingness to learn, this is the perfect project for you.

As volunteers will be volunteering on the project they  don’t need to have prior construction or renovation experience to participate on this project. 

Skilled laborers are highly sought after, so if you have experience please make a note in your application so the local team can utilize your skills.

Some of our projects are based in places affected by extreme poverty where communities are still recovering. 

As part of your project work you could:

Our projects are sustainable and allow the local community to continue the work after you’ve left. 

By taking part, you’ll get to immerse in the local community and get to know the people you’re helping.You can even participate in teaching the students in the school.

This experience is a safe and sociable way to give back where it’s needed, while building your own confidence and understanding of global issues.

Please note, this project has a​ no funding and any contribution of money for building materials and logistics is recommended. 

Typical day

With your mornings spent on the work site and your afternoons spent volunteering in thev school, teaching English, or playing soccer your estimated timetable looks like the following:

07.15 - 7.45am Breakfast at the Host Family

08.00 - 12.00 Work at the project site

Construction Site Painting, repairs and landscaping

12.00 - 13.00 Visit the local community and attend to cultural insight

13.00 - 14.00 Lunch

14.00 - 17.00 Teach English Language


Free-time activities

During the weekends, volunteers have free time to relax or take the opportunity to explore Diane Beach, Shimoni Resorts or to embark on a safari. Sunday is a religious day of rest. If you wish, you can accompany your host family to their local church, as a Kenyan church service is a unique and special experience for many volunteers.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Airport Pickup at Moi International Airport

Volunteers will be picked at the Mombasa lnternational Airport by the local staff and transfered to the project site and host accommodation.

single room for person with own western toilet and a TV screen.

Clean comfortable beds and own key to the cottage

Food & Beverages

Volunteers are provided with three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), which are served at the accommodation.

Breakfast is served around 7am and generally consists of chai (tea), toast, fruit and sometimes mandazi (African donuts). 

A typical lunch can include vegetables with rice, occasional meat and fruit and is served around 1pm. If you are not returning home from your placement for lunch, you will need to pack your own lunch in the morning.

Dinner is usually served around 8pm and usually includes traditional food, such as ugali, chapati, mboga and irio, alongside meat and vegetables.

Tap water is not safe to drink in Kenya, though bottled water is readily available. Volunteers typically drink around half a gallon, or two liters, per day, which adds up to cost around $10 per week.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Moi International Airport (MBA) in Mombasa. We assist you to find cheap flights to Kenya.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Kenya provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Kenya you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Kenya.

THE PROGRAM
Programs start every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, with arrival Sunday prior to the program start at Mombasa.


Upon arrival you will be picked up at the Moi lnternational Airport and driven to the volunteer house or coordinator’s place.

During 1-3 days, depending on the length of your voluntary work, you will get a general briefing. These first days will offer you glimpses into the Swahili  language, as well as Kenya 's various cultures, religions, and local ways of life.
This introduction will be held in Kitale  depending on your work area.

The organization charges its fees in EUR. The price table in USD is subject to currency fluctuation. Musha Care Foundation will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Musha Care Foundation during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
