This project offers physical education and all kinds of sports programs. Motivated volunteers with a passion for sports are needed all year long! This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

By offering physical education and sports programs to kids, this project tries to prevent children from taking refuge in alcohol, drugs and crime, which are structural problems in the poorer neighborhoods of Quito, Ecuador. This place is a safe and encouraging environment, where the kids learn the values of rules, discipline, team play and, most importantly, fairness and respect. Also, this projects gives them the opportunity to learn new perspectives. Motivated volunteers with a passion for sports are needed all year round! You can make your own plan regarding sports and/or games to teach the children. Are you into soccer? Organize a soccer competition! Maybe more a fan of smaller games and teamwork? Anything is possible, the kids will have an amazing time while you are there! Help them grow and learn and play with their friends.

Typical day

 A typical day usually starts at 09:00 AM and finishes at 16:00 PM. During the day there a plenty of 'breaks' in which you can have coffee, lunch of even have some free time to work on your Spanish for example. At the Football School you can work as a manager or project manager and/or as a trainer: 

  • Prepare and give football training in a challenging and structured way;
  • Introduce the children to new (contact) sports such as Frisbee, handball or athletics;
  • Monitor the balance, structure and progress of the project;
  • Organize a monthly match against the youth of the professional club Nacional;
  • Maintain contact with the parents, if necessary speak to them before or after the training;
  • Monthly meetings on the Football School project (prepare and chair);
  • Actively think along with the organization and the project; what else is needed? What can be done better?;
  • Stimulate discipline, self-confidence, initiative and a proactive attitude;
  • Create a safe and stimulating project environment;
  • Promote norms and values ​​such as respect and cooperation.

There are plenty of things to do in and outside Quito, for example:

Teleférico; mitad del mundo; see a soccer match; visit the historical centre; go out to bar; get some good food

One-day trips, out-side Quito:
Cotopaxi; Otavalo; laguna Quilotoa; Papallacta (hot springs)

Beach trips:
Montanita; Tonsupa; Canoa

Require­ments

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

What's Included

Services by Beyond South America

Our one-time mediation fee includes:

  • search and mediation for a suitable project
  • preparation via Skype calls
  • search and mediation for accommodation (host family and/or volunteer house)

Note: We offer an upgrade package (comfort class) for volunteers that need more support. This package includes more contact time. We take you more often to your project/Spanish classes, we offer 'airport drop-off' and there is extra time to explore Cochabamba. Naturally, this upgrade comes with a small price increase.

Please note, that all the profit of Beyond South America goes to the foundation "Casa de la Alegría" providing therapeutic workshops for children and adolescence in social projects in and around Cochabamba/Bolivia

Airport Pickup at Mariscal Sucre International Airport

We pick you up from the airport in Cochabamba. This service is included in the mediation fee.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ecuador.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ecuador provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Ecuador you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ecuador.

The organization charges its fees in EUR. The price table in USD is subject to currency fluctuation. Beyond South America will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Beyond South America during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
