True Companion Foundation (TrueCorp Ghana) is a non profit, voluntary, nongovernmental organisation committed to providing a platform for the inspiration and empowerment of children and youths and beyond through promoting opportunities to support their communities, connect and grow through education, mentoring, networking, strategic alliances, and developing and recognizing excellence in the ability and will of children.

The Summer Camp Project aims to build capacities of children and community at large to develop a community led sustainable and innovative solutions to challenges of community development. Through such project, volunteers get to work within deprived community with perculiar challenges hindering their development and transformation. The project seeks to research, identify and empower the will and abilities of community members and especially children on ways their community challenges can be resolved whiles providing a volunteer constructed school, toilet facilities, pipe born water and community centers to address perculiar needs. Others areas to work include adult literacy and special education. Volunteers through this project learn to interact, know the culture, the language, art and the unique adventurous experience of tropical Ghana.

On the project field, volunteers gets to work with school children, community groups and well as household heads. Mention of women and the sick is crucial in our periodic health outreaches and community sanitation initiatives. Though project is run with staff from our organisations, volunteers primarily work with the community people because we seek to engage more interaction and learning process between the volunteers and the beneficiaries. 

Volunteer residence is urban but project sites are basically rural and peri-urban with some degree of village life to be expected especially during the in-village camps. During the in-village camps, volunteers gets to stay in rural environments with little access to electricity. 

Typical day

6:30 am - 7:30 am      Breakfast and Mapping
8:00 am - 12:00 pm   Assisting schools in teaching, development studies/ Construction/ meeting with household heads
12:00 pm - 2:30 pm   Lunch and rest
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm     Community outreaches in Health, sanitation, career supports/community forums/visit to households
5:30 pm - 9:00 pm     Dinner and review of day's activity & night out

Free-time activities

The first activity done in free time is learning the culture of the people. Volunteers get to learn the art, language, food and cook with the locals.

Secondly, Nights out offers volunteers unique opportunities to complete the day by visiting a concert or night club.
Other activities include but not limited to swimming, horse riding, safari trips and visits to unique eco tourist sites and heritage museums.



In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 17:00

What's Included

Airport Pickup at Kotoka International Airport

Volunteers would be picked at the arrival point of the airport by the Executive Director and a driver. Estimated drive time to project accommodation site is exactly 2 hours.


All our accommodation except the two days village camping include the following:

Spacious air-condition rooms/fan rooms with double beds and single beds. 
We also have rooms for families and groups of not more than three
Bathroom is clean and has shower, water closet and tiled.
Accommodation has wireless internet connectivity and televisions.

Food & Beverages

Fees include breakfast, snacks, lunch and supper with a natural fruit drink daily. Vegetarian meals are also included

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ghana.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ghana provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Ghana you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ghana.

Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with True Companion Foundation during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
