About the program

This volunteer project is in Hua HIn; in homes and care centers run by local families that want to support children facing the worst difficulties. At most centers you will volunteer at, you can expect to meet between fifteen and fifty children, all with huge smiles and lots of affection to give. As a volunteer, we expect you to give them love and affection back; these children need it most.

It's important for us to highlight that the social orphanages and the centers where you shall be volunteering at have specific needs depending on the place and day in question, which means that you should be very flexible. As a volunteer, you may expect to help in tasks like childcare, child supervision, activity planning, helping with the center's activities, and in general spending time around children and supporting the activities that will be organised for them.

The children are these centers are between four and eighteen years all; most being either orphans or children who live near the city, but due to poverty and the remoteness of their family's location, stay in the center. Additionally, most of the children at these centers come from either vulnerable ethnic minority villages, that lack things like education or basic sanitation, or from Myanmar, a country that they escaped as refugees.

Always keep in mind that your main concern as a volunteer shall be spending time with children. This may be through teaching them English, helping them with their school homework, organising activities with them, playing didactic games with them, painting, or the like. Everything you will do as a volunteer will translate into a better life for these children, as it will help them improve their confidence and gain necessary skills. Additionally, you may also help give maintenance to the centers where these children are, assist in the cleaning, assist in the cooking, or fix some appliances there.

Free-time activities

You will be volunteering in the beautiful, northern Thai city of Chiang Mai. A complete contrast to Thailand's capital Bangkok, Chiang Mai is a smaller city with a huge connection to the environment, as it provides direct access to the nearby beautiful forest mountains that are a hotspot for adventurers and lovers of nature alike. In addition to that, Chiang Mai also has very intriguing traditionally Thai sites such as its well-known open air markets, its historic center filled with centuries old temples, or the Buddhist temples near the city.

In addition to that, Chiang Mai could offer you excursions and trekking on mountains and rice fields, beautiful handicrafts at its markets, night safaris, a bustling nightlife you can enjoy with other volunteers at the Zoe Yellow area, among other things.

During your stay, you could also visit some of the other beautiful places in Thailand, such as its beaches or historical sites like Ayutthaya.

About the project

Support in the cooperation and creation of social and environmental projects in communities at risk of social exclusion, through international volunteering.

Meet your organization

ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER is a non-profit organization, established in 2017. We collaborate in the social and environmental field through projects of conservation and protection of the environment and animals, as well as in the social part through projects of empowerment of women, community development, functional diversity, medical or teaching.

Our team of collaborators has a deep experience in international volunteer programs.  We know all the realities of the areas where we are working, collaborating and where we have a presence.

Our projects offer volunteers the opportunity to meet, share and participate in social and environmental projects. These projects demand educational and recreational activities that benefit communities of different cultures and customs, communities with economic difficulties and different degrees of social exclusion.
