Our Junior Volunteer Programme welcomes young people aged 15-17 for two weeks during the summer in the friendly town of Clonmel. We collaborate with carefully selected local projects which create positive and social change within the community.

Participants experience Ireland in a very unique way. They are immersed in the Irish culture and English language and live with host families. They benefit from the support of group leaders and CTL local coordinators. They volunteer in local projects with other local and international volunteers to make a difference and create positive change. The programme also includes some fun and learning activities as well as excursions.

We accept a maximum of 12 participants in the same period. Participants from various countries including France, Italy, Spain and more! We carefully allocate host families and project taking into account participants’ profile.

Participants will have the opportunity to volunteers in different local projects. The main project in summer 2019 will be and environmental project to promote biodiversity and to save bees! Each participant will be required to participate in this project. At the beginning of the programme, volunteers will have the opportunity to discuss what they would like to do with the group leader. Volunteer work will be allocated by the group leader taking into account participants’ profile and preferences. It is very likely that each participant will have the opportunity to volunteer in more than one project. Participants need to be flexible and ready to experience different projects. Participants are expected to volunteer for 5 to 6 hours per day.

 Example of Volunteer Work

Depending on the specific needs of local projects, volunteer work activity will include:

·        Environmental Project: promoting biodiversity and saving bees!

CTL Ireland collaborates with a local organisation which involves local Irish young people in environmental work. International volunteers will work together with local young people on this project. They will be working along the bank of the local river and along a local cycling lane to increase biodiversity and create an environment that attracts bees. Bees are now endangered and urgent action is required to preserve these insects which are essential to the environment. Volunteers will be cutting invasive plants and will be planting special plants to attract bees. Local leaders and experts will also be teaching volunteers about nature, biodiversity and environmental issues.

·        Painting/renovation/cleaning work in community project or in a natural environment

·        Helping in an Arts Festival (running the first week of July): help with the promotion, assisting with Arts workshop, help at the entrances of venue.

Assisting with summer-camps/childcare/youth projects with children and teenager
