Age 18+
Volunteering at Openmind Projects Training center.

If you would like to work in team with other volunteers, We believe our center is good place for you.
At our Center volunteers help us to train a group of young local trainees from Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. We need your help to train our trainees in new life skills, English conversation, IT training, community development and social entrepreneurship, and other skills. Our volunteers practice simple English, mainly conversation, quite a few also computer training, using social media, and help trainees with their weekly tasks, such as making presentations.

You may often combine this with sports, games, songs or art. You can do this by using your own interests and skills and combine it with teaching at local schools and Temple schools; some volunteers have the opportunity to help at the Juvenile Detention Centre ( watch video about our Center).

Most of the time one of our people will work with you, help you.

Since 2001 Openmind Projects has provided a free Training Center to assist disadvantaged young people to become leaders and to see all the possibilities of their world.

With very limited means from our volunteer admin fees we have successfully trained over 400 young people.

This new generation of Trainers has helped us to conduct over 60 very popular Learning Camps for village children at our Center in April and for migrant girls and boys on the Thai-Burma border in October, and inspired and motivated over 2000 Campers.

If you have special skills such as IT, hospitality, social media, web/mobile application, fundraising skills, please let us know.

Typical day

A Teaching Volunteer Day

Teach 3-4 English lessons a day, add time to prepare.

Socialize with children after school, play games, sing songs, cook and eat together is a great idea!

The best way to learn English is learning by speaking it!

Encourage  young students to talk about things they are interested in. Help them make simple sentences! They have only learned vocabulary, like colors, fruits etc., never to make a full sentence. Make them try, encourage them, give them confidence!

Let more advanced students search online for information, learn about the world and make presentations in English to share with their friends. They learn to learn and to help others!

We practice this at the Openmind Learning Camps and at our Center and you can go out to the village and do the same! Our campers and trainees love it!
