About Us

The NKA Foundation is a nonprofit organization in the United States. NKA exists to serve undeserved communities. We do this by creating project sites where individuals, groups and institutions can interact with the undeserved communities to build cultural bridges for knowledge and skills transfer. NKA projects promote volunteerism, especially through  the use of arts and design. NKA projects are developed and managed by volunteers dotted all over the globe.

Project Aim

NKA Foundation has the aim of building cultural bridges between Africa and the rest of the world.

Volunteer Opportunities

Rural Ghana needs you. 98 percent of adults in Abetenim are unable to read or write due to  the poor education infrastructure. The focus is on basic education of the younger generation. We want to achieve that in the next 10 to 15 years, the youth of today will be educated adult leaders in the community, who will in turn influence the upcoming generation. Take the Challenge. Be our volunteer!

Nursery, primary and junior secondary school placements are available. Volunteers are needed to teach one or two of the following school subjects

  • English
  • Maths
  • French
  • Computers
  • Sciences
  • Social studies
  • Arts and craft
  • Music
  • Sports
The volunteer can also get involved in designing teaching aids and working with teachers to introduce new learning techniques to improve learning outcomes among students. You will get to shadow a local teacher before leading your own lessons in the classroom or in the community library.
What should you bring?

If you are motivated about changing lives of those growing up in poverty through education and innovative learning techniques, then this is the program for you. NKA Foundation program is open to university students, gap year persons, working professionals, retirees and mission trips. Learn by discovering what resources the community already has and by mobilizing those assets to meet the education needs in the rural school.
