Volunteer at our main project in Port Elizabeth:
Together with the locals of the township Motherwell we organize workshops, afterschool programs, upliftment projects and run a shelter in order to uplift the children of the township, inspire the community and ensure a better future for everyone
You can make a difference by bringing in your own ideas of how to uplift the community and you will get to spend time with the most beautiful, funny and heart-warming kids that will make you cry with laughter, together with a team that loves what they do.
On our guided tour around South Africa, every day is different. Usually, we get up at 7 am and do fun activities, explore South Africa's stunning landscapes, drive to the beautiful highlights of our trip and visit different communities and Social projects.
A typical day at the Xhosa Community (minimum stay of for weeks required, if you want to join the preschool):
8am - 1pm: Preschool (or help with community development)
1pm- 3pm: free time
3pm - 5pm: Afterschool Activities for the older kids (English classes, Sports, Games, Art, Gardening)
A typical Day at our main kids' upliftment project in the Township of Port Elizabeth:
After breakfast in the morning, you can relax in the garden, go for a swim in the river or take a SUP. Your working time depends on your focus, but usually, it starts around 1 pm. Our project initiator Luc takes you to the township Motherwell. Here you will help out with our Community Upliftment Projects. There will be different tasks every day, but most of the time you play with the kids, do art, games and sports activities with them. You will also help Nwabisa with cooking for the kids in the afternoon. A few times per week some of our volunteers can join our Surf lessons with the kids from Motherwell.
Once a month we do the 5 days ‚Flowers for Africa‘ workshop initiated by the artist Luc van der Walt and the non-profit organisation ‚Art to uplift‘ which provides underprivileged children with the therapeutic experience of art. With a group of artists and volunteers, the children are painting flowers bigger than themselves on the murals of their communities. The children are left proud, educated and more confident in themselves and the community is inspired to make other improvements.
The fees cover the costs for accommodation, transportation, some meals, some activities, organization, personal support, safety and other project expenses.
We pick you up from the airport.
